Tyreke to Italy ?

Sacramento's Tyreke Evans is in advanced talks on a deal to play with Lottomatica Roma for rest of lockout.
Like all overseas deals now, Evans and others will wait on what comes out of weekend talks between the NBA and players.

I personally think that playing professional FIBA basketball would be a very good thing for Tyreke because he should not be able to drive into the paint as he does in NBA, and that would force him to develop his midrange game.

I honestly don't think he his ability to crossover is going to have any issues, he has some of the best handles in the NBA. If anything I think he will get more practices on his layups and euro step that he is known for.

It'll keep him in shape but more importantly if he wants minutes he'll have to learn how to play better of the ball and improve his mid range jumper.
Also I might be able to see him live. To me it's win-win.

Actually, my point was that, in FIBA basketball, the paint is much more cluttered (no defensive 3 seconds !).
I have no doubt Tyreke can pass his defender but he will face many zone defenses and will be waited in the paint.
A FIBA guard has to be a good midrange player !

Wow!!! Great news! Like William Blake, I'm from Italy too and I can't wait to see Tyreke over here. I will drive 300 miles just to see him!

I think it's a great chance for him to improve his game. He will have a hard time getting to the basket, but hi will be able to practice a lot more and hopefully improve his jumpshot. Then, he will be a beast on defense and in the low post. I'm not a fan of Virtus Roma, but as long as Tyreke will be there I will!

I think Tyreke should take the deal and get into basketball shape and just keep improving his game. There's only so much you can do at these charity games and inside a basketball gym by yourself. This would be great for him because they play hard in Euro ball and bang him around.

You have a good point but I don't think any guards in the euroleague will be able to guard him in the paint, help defense or not. He picks apart defenses in the NBA even when they run zone.

This is actually good news if the lockout continues. He'll stay in shape and learn to play in a more team oriented offense. If he doesn't fit in he won't get on the floor no matter how much more talented he is than the others. I don't think the Euroleague will be an issue for Tyreke, but I think this could really help him develop his off-the-ball game. He'll have to work extremely hard over there too, it's not an easy ride.
