Tyreke Evans wins 2010 Rookie of the Year award

SACRAMENTO- With a record setting rookie season behind him, the only drama remaining for Tyreke Evans is how to make room for all of his awards.

Evans joined radio host Carmichael Dave in the palatial KHTK studios in Sacramento last night to receive easily the biggest award of his life, the 2010 Carmichael Dave Show NBA Rookie of the Year.

Presented with the trophy, framed award, and 5 dollar gift certificate to Steve's Pizza, Evans was overcome with emotion. When asked to put into words what it all meant to him, he said:

"What is this again?"

From here on out, the sky's the limit for the young man we can no longer call a rookie.

Came into thread hoping to be able to post a halleluja, shortly considered being pissed off, came to the conclusion that this is pretty much brilliant, especially the award that will probably fall victim to a vacuum soon.

What a great award, and a great moment in basketball history.

I grew up on Steve's Pizza, and many of my post-game and end of season awards ceremonies were exactly like the one documented above. That trophy resembles so may I received in my youth for a combined 30+ seasons of loyal service to the youth baseball, basketball, soccer, and football leagues of the Sacramento Region. I would like to formally welcome Tyreke to the long line of mini plastic trophy + Steve's Pizza receiving regional sports heroes. Welcome, Tyreke, and congratulations on the award. Job well done.

I have to say, Evans is clearly not the typical radio friendly guest, but there was something about the whole segment that was greatly entertaining.
I mean, Evans didn't really give a whole lot of great or detailed answers, didn't speak too clearly, but I couldn't help but listen.
I hope he'll continue to go back on when he'll be winning the Carmichael Dave Show NBA MVP award.
