Thanks to ESPN, I finally got to see my first live Kings game this season.

And while it's been pretty clear Evans is something special simply from reading the game summaries, it's frightening just how confident I was he would come up with a play on par with the strip of Arenas just before it happened and didn't question whether he would make the free throws.

Even in the glory days, I've never been that sure of a King in crunch time.

He's the kind of player we've wanted to see in players before him, but you know the real deal when you finally have it. He can impose his will on the game, in any phase of the game.

I like the way Bricklayer said it better. ;)
Nothing? Bricklayer hasnt said anything in this thread. What did he say?

Once Evans has a consistent jumpshot he will become a full blown superstar. Tonight was the first full game ive been able to watch Evans play in. I was very impressed with his first step quickness, overall speed, strength, defense, and ball handling ability. He truly seems to have an AMAZING future ahead of him.

Check out this Gilbert Arenas quote... I think this sums it up..

“I’m a big guard in this league, but going up against him I felt little tonight,” Arenas said. “It was a great pick up for Sacramento.”

Even in the glory days, no King has ever been as sure of himself in crunch time....

Awesome quote. Reminds me of the days leading up to the draft when Evans was dominating all of the other guards in workouts. He's a specimen for sure.

You know, was gonna mention this earlier. I too had confidence reke would make a play on that defensive possesion. Before the play I remember telling myself please put Evans on arenas. I just had that confidence in him. It's a weird feeling

My first viewing of the new Kings as well. And I thought the same thing before that play. Reke has "it". He sure was looking like the Shaq of PGs when he backed Arenas down that one play.

I was psyched before just on what I was hearing and reading. Its completely different to see it.

That play was sick! One would hope a game saving defensive play would spark an interest in defense from the rest of the team... Isn't it a good feeling knowing we might actually have a chance to contend in a couple years?

What's even more impressive is Evans came up with that steal just moments after getting called for the foul (real or imagined) that probably would have crushed the spirit of a lesser rookie (or vet for that matter).

Instead, I get this distinct feeling immediately afterward, Havoc called a huddle with his teammates, looked to the stands and said "Hey, isn't that John Candy?"

Mark Jackson said something like in that regard after Evans posted up Arenas for an easy basket while Butler was feet away yet didn't aid his teammate.
"(Evans) posts up one on one, if you (Butler) don't want to help, well this little guy (Arenas) will pay the price..."

Anyone know why Tyreke wasn't credited with the steal at the end of the game? I'm guessing because the foul was called before Evans had possession?

Yeah it was discussed earlier in the thread, that was what one person said, he enver gained control. However, I remember at least one other actual steal earlier in the game, and he wasn't credited for that either.
