The entire league!!! Wow! He didn't ask to be a franchise player. He cannot help anyone's overblown expectations.
Oh, poor Tyreke. He never asked to be a franchise player, he never asked to have high expectations!! Then what about the blueprint? Was the blueprint all along "Reach the NBA and not want to become a franchise player"? Come on now. Of course he wants to be great. He just needs to put it all together.
He is what he is and is pretty darn good. He will not be in the Hall of Fame. Neither will a lot of people yet I think people think they know what he needs to do to get there. What if he is at his peak? I agree with what he needs to work on but he can't work on it playing the 3 position. Is this his fault?
Tyreke is 22. He hasn't reached his peak. It is head-scratching that you could even consider otherwise.
The last few games Smart was forced to start a SF. Maybe that's what he should be doing all the time.
Tyreke has NOT worked at SF. Not in any shape or form. Look at his advanced stats when playing in this position, it is even worse than him at point guard. However, I think the offense runs SMOOTHER when he is out of the PG role, since it forces the offense to flow more without Tyreke pounding the ball.
I can explain our success to playing a standard line up just as easy as people can speculate it has to do with Tyreke. As most of the league rejects small ball, maybe THAT'S the problem. Doesn't that make sense?
Our small ball is due to the lack of a true small forward. We've got good size at the 2, 4 and 5 position. IT is a small point guard, but he makes it work. Tyreke should be playing at the TWO POSITION, not the one, not the three.
I was absolutely serious in pointing out Cousins' play. His rebounding is decreasing. I don't know about his scoring but I will guess so. We have guards that want to shoot and dominate the ball. That leaves out Cousins, our best player, and I think the development of Cousins has more to do with the long term success of this team than the development of IT.
You are saying Cousins regressed this year? I'm scratching my head REALLY hard now. He is having a rough string of games in a very condensed season. He has easily progressed since last year, and I doubt you'll find anybody (other than yourself) who is saying otherwise.
I see no solution this year. I hope Thornton or Tyreke are traded over the summer, preferably Thornton. I want us to go away from small ball. I want us to get away from the dependence on outside shooting and I want to pound it inside as in the end, that is more reliable game in game out. We already have the big guys to do it and probably need one more which very easily can be found in the draft.
I have a solution: Tyreke at SG, Thornton to the bench. Let Tyreke develop in a role where he CAN develop. He doesn't have the body for the SF position, and he doesn't have the natural PG ability required to be a PG. He DOES however have elite ISO skills, and he CAN develop a midrange game like Wade did. Put him at SG, let him develop there, keep it stable.
