Turkoglu and Okur to the Kings?

Some minutes ago, I have heard in Sportmania (TV Channel) the comments of the two journalist. They have said that Sacramento, probably, want to get the two turkish players to the next year.
Any rumor from SacBee or similar?

Sounds unlikely. We've had discussions about Turkoglu on the board and a lot of us would like to see him in Sacramento, but we certainly don't have the cap space to sign both of them.

I think the same. They also said that the Kings would pay 10 000 000 dolars to Turkoglu.
I think that one of them is possible, but it's unlikely get the two turkish.

The Kings have too much money in Noc and Garcia to acquire Hedo straight up in FA when he fills the exact same roles. I think Noc would be moved in a sign-and-trade scenario, but there's no way they buy Hedo and Okur here.

I think it depends a LOT on who the Kings draft... if they go #1, why get Okur...

Not to mention that Okur makes absolutley no sense for us given the youth and softness of our existing frontcourt. Jerry Reynolds might have a joygasm over a three point shooting frontcourt that allowed every team in the league to dominate the interior, but its not sound basketball.

Hedo though...have to believe he is on our radar. Not sure whether we can get him or not -- you are asking him to come from a 59 win team to a 17 win team. But I would guess that that would be the basis of any such rumor. We've been talking about that possibility for months, and as a former favorite in these parts it could happen.

Why is Okur any better than Spencer Hawes? We already have a 3pt shooting center who's a lot younger and a lot cheaper.

no thanks to either. the 3 spot is full and we don't need anymore soft, shooting bigs. I mean is Turk really that much better than Noc?

Perhaps not that much better, but he represents something more, and at least if I were doing it I would want to put them together and have BOTH on the team. Lot of versatility, veterans who understand defense and know how to play -- try to reach a critical mass of all around players and remove any mantle of leadership from Kevin's shoulders.

I guess I just don't see much benefit to having that much money tied up in two similar players that play the same position. I think the money could be better spent elsewhere. Not to mention this further hampers the development of Donte. I know he doesn't seem to have much support around here these days, but he's got to play to develop.

I really like Okur. He is a decent rebounder, and can really spread the floor. But him coming to Sac makes little sense for both parties. At this point in his career, he should go to a contender. A team like San Antonio could really use him. I also makes little sense for us to invest a lot of money in a player like him. He would contribute and help us out, but would just take time away from some of our young guys.

Turkoglu is a much more likely candidate to end up in a kings uniform. I would be all for it, especially if/when we get a new pg. Turkoglu is at his best with a pg that can penetrate and get him open shots. His veteran leadership would be a real positive presence in the lockerroom. But if we sign him, Noc or Garcia has to go. No reason to stockpile small forwards when acquiring talent at that position is not one of our biggest needs.

The more I think about it, I good pg will really help almost anyone we bring in, as well as the guys that are already here. Our pg play was probably the worst in the league, and any upgrade will have a positive effect on everyone else. You always hope your pg can make the game easier for for everyone else, but Beno accomplished the opposite and brought everyone else's level of play down.

Well the only way to get Turkoglu, if he wants somewhere in the neighborhood of 9 to 10 mil is to do a sign and trade. If were under the cap at 7 mil, trading either Noc or Cisco would work.. I can't believe that the Kings have any interest in Okur.

Okur is skillset duplication. In fact, sort of reminds me of a more offensively potent Brad Miller--big and lumbering guy who loves the jumpshot. So why get that prototype again when we've traded that away? Makes no sense

Turkoglu I can warm myself up to that idea. Beloved here during our run, and he really grew a lot ever since he joined Orlando--mismatch guy with great versatility. I think maybe Garcia would need to go in the case where he get Hedo, but we can only improve with him around

Signing turkoglu means we can move nocioni... as much as i hate to do it but if we can manage to get a pick out of it a first rounder then im good..

last time i read there was a thread here that explained how the wizards needed players who can contribute NOW and not any more draft picks. that the time is now.

we can trade...

Nocioni
Beno
Greene

for their

Songaila
stevenson
haywood
first round pick

beno and noc would give them depth and the right pieces for them to get a push at the playoffs.. greene is a budding prospect

then we sign turkoglu draft rubio, griffin, jrue holiday, and emir preldzic

we now have

rubio/holiday
Martin/garcia
Turkoglu/preldzic
Griffin/Thompson
Hawes/(thompson plays center too)
cause i sure as hell SAY NO on the okur signing

we cant get him and turk at the same time

Com'n brick. Okur a very good post defender. He's not a great weakside helper, but he's very good one on one in the post defender.

Aren't they both a little old....Their upside isn't great and neither is their health. Pass on both

and will be even older by the time we're ready to compete. Old and getting paid $10M a year. I think everyone is still in love with Turk because of the glory days. I just don't see it as a good fit for us at this point in time, especially at that price. Everyone was bitching and moaning when we picked up Noc because of his contract and he is at like $7M a year. I don' get it.

Noc career

11.9 PPG 1.3 APG 5.1 RPG in 25.5 minutes

Hedo career

12.3 PPG 2.7 APG 4.5 RPG in 27.9 minutes

Hedo did have a better year this year, but he also plays 10 more mpg than Noc and is obviously on a much, much better team.

No Thanks!

I do like Hedo's game, but as many have already said, he is getting older and I don't want to be paying him that kind of $$ for that long. I also agree with tmany others on Okur. Decent game, but not a fit on this team.

I love the idea of getting the #1 pick and trading for the #2, but I just can't see washington doing it without one of our few blue chip players. I know there are immediate pending luxury tax implicatios for them, but I think they would rather dump slalries instead of a top 2 pick. If geoff can make it happen, I am a happy man.

If the Kings wanted Tukoglu they should never have let him go in the first place. He was better than Peja then, and he's a heckuva lot better now. We had our chance. We blew it. Now we've got to move on and forget about signing a guy who is too old to grow with these younger guys we have.

Vlade was too old to grow with the Webber/JWill/Peja core as well.

Hedo is a different case. If he was a star player his age would actually be of more concern -- because then the main guy you are depending on gets old just as your young guys get good enough to support him. But any Hedo plan I would think centers around him as veteran glue guy and link to our championship past. A veteran that can fill a lot of holes, but plays equally well either starting or coming off the bench and can be pushed out of the way once the time comes without any fussing or fighting. And most of all a guy who has been on a lot of major winning teams and can help teach our soft little numbskulls what that entails.

If you don't like the Vlade comparison, then Christie then.

If this was a sign and trade type of thing in which we could trade for Noc for Hedo, I'd do it. Otherwise, I'd keep the $ for promising young talent. In the context of the Kings, I think they both satisfy similar needs - good players (Hedo is better), good character, solid team guys. I just don't want to duplicate Noc at this point.
