First off, let me say a thanks to everyone who participated in the draft and everyone who helped me out along the way. I would also like to say an extra thanks to Mr. S£im Citrus for not only bringing the draft idea here to KingsFans but also for providing a template to work with for these playoffs. The rules will be very similar, if not identical, to that of the music draft's playoffs. The same voting errors can occur in these polls as in the music draft polls so I will be putting the reminder at the bottom of page almost verbatim from the music draft.

For your viewing pleasure, the original Tropical Island Movie Draft thread can be found here.

Round 1 will be split into two separate polls, the Kansas City Division and the Sacramento Division. The voting will occur in regular playoff fashion, with the #1 of each division facing the #8 of the same division, and so on. The divisions are set as follows.

Kansas City Division:

1. Jerryaki
2. LoungeLizard
3. tradepeja
4. DimeDropper
5. NoBonus
6. AleksandarN
7. bozzwell
8. Monty'sBiggestFan

Sacramento Division:

1. Löwenherz
2. Bricklayer
3. bdouble013
4. Warhawk
5. D-Mass
6. atxrocker
7. GoGoGadget
8. Mr. S£im Citrus

In this thread you will be voting on the match-ups in the Kansas City Division. They are as follows:

Note: You can vote for yourself in this round of voting.

(1) Jerryaki v. (8) Monty'sBiggestFan
(2) LoungeLizard v. (7) bozzwell
(3) tradepeja v. (6) AleksandarN
(4) DimeDropper v. (5) NoBonus

Vote for only one list per match-up, and please read the reminder below.

REMINDER: Because of the way this poll will have to be arranged, you will be required to make multiple votes. The vote will have to be public so that I can keep track of whether anyone makes a double-vote. With regard to this matter, I ask that you pay attention to whom you are voting for: because of the way the multiple vote factors in, it’s possible to accidentally vote for both parties in a given matchup, i.e. accidentally vote for (1) Sacramento and (4) Sacramento. I am including this in the OP with enough advanced notice so that everybody will be aware of what could happen. If, for some reason, you do happen to accidentally vote for both parties in a matchup, PM me before the voting deadline to advise me of the mistake and let me know whom you meant to vote for, and I will correct your vote. Any double votes that I have not been advised of by the voting deadline will be considered invalid, and not counted.

Good luck to all participants, and happy voting!

Hmm... Interesting that the same person had my #1 overall favorite list in both the album and the movie drafts.

Unfortunately I don't see that person in the other four threads going, so I guess I won't learn what my favorite cars, video games, singles and babes should be. :p

I feel NoBonus should have been seeded higher. Any list with Star Wars, Blazing Saddles, and Tron is a winner in my book.

Hence my "My youth is killing me here" comment.
indeed... truly, though, I am surprised to be beating anyone... I just picked based on a formula to ensure I had adequate movie representation for most film eras and genres on my island comprised of my favorite movies from each era/genre.

Well, it certainly worked for you. Some of the older posters here have voted for you over me (not surprising, really). I actually had you rated pretty high. You have a solid list, although I admit I haven't seen the majority of films on it (which I can say for pretty much everyones list except for mine).

Not really an excuse. I think I am maybe, what, one year older than you? But look how old some of the movies on my list are.

You don't have to be old to see old movies. You just gotta realize that there were good things made before you were born. Actually, I'd volunteer to say most good things were made before we were born.

I did rank both of your lists highly though.

Well, then, I should change my comment to "My youthful movies are killing me here"! :p

I realise that most of the classics were before my time, it's something I have to work on (seeing older movies). At present I usually try to catch the best films coming out - it's hard enough in itself when you don't have alot of money.

Some day, I'm going to start watching some of the older movies, I may use these lists for recommendations.

Yeah, I understand. I will say though, at least you have good taste in the current movies. Pretty much your whole list is only the best of stuff to come out lately.

Take Superbad for example, there's no doubt it will be referred to as a classic comedy in the coming decades (have you seen Pineapple Express yet? pure genius as well). Also, The Departed will be one of those classic crime dramas.

But yeah, just go rent some old stuff to really expand your tastes.

Rent? Nah, just hit yard sales and thrift stores... you can pick up VHS tapes for about $0.50 per movie... yeah, it is VHS, but that is the way to see cool old films on the cheap. Sometimes, you get them free.. I just picked up the Seven Voyages of Sinbad for free...

Will do. No, never seen Pineapple Express. New, old? I'll rent it some night next week if I can.

And so I experience the downfall of not living in the US! Unfortunately, there are pretty much never yard sales here. And I don't think I've ever bought a movie for as cheap as $0.50 :(

Bump...

What happened? Was the island overrun by a tidal wave or something?

Uh, there's been 32 voters. And I haven't voted yet. That's a pretty high turnout. People just got it all done in about the first 2 days.

Um, not talking about the turnout. I bumped the threads because they were half-way down the SECOND page of the index. You might want to take that chip of your shoulder once in a while.

Talk about ironic.

But, I meant what I said. People got their votes in early and had no reason to post. That's why it was down the page. I will thank you for the bumps though as I meant to do it today on the last day of voting but didn't have time to get on before I had to take off.

People got their votes in early? So you only wanted certain people to vote?

Whatever, dude. The thread hadn't had a post since Aug. 7. With it on the second page, anyone else who might have been interested in voting wouldn't have seen it. Whatever you MEANT to do, the threads were off the first page. That kind of defeats the idea of having as many members as possible participate if they check in on the board and don't see the threads...

You want to take offense or umbrage at every little thing. That's fine; feel free. But don't cop an attitude when you're the one who TOTALLY misunderstood my intentions.

Yeah, "whatever, dude."

The lengths at which you'll go to prove you are a hypocrite is astounding. Maybe I mistook your comment to begin with as a tad more seedy than it really is, and sorry about that, but don't act like you haven't done the same for me.

A couple days ago in the video game draft you took a comment of mine (which included a thank you) so wildly it led to yet another accusation of prejudice about me. I guess when you figured out how ridiculous your line of interrogation was you deleted the whole thing with not even a hint of apology. The posts did need to be cleaned from that thread, so good deletings for once I guess.

Now you are accusing me that my new evil plan was to keep these threads down in the annals of Kingsfans.com so only the people who saw it first would get to vote? Am I reading that correctly? Do you feel you should be allowed to say things like that just because you are some sort of internet superior?

Well, you figured me out. Yes, only the people who read the board every day and have voted in every poll will get a vote and anyone else, won't even know its going on! It so simple and I will win by a landslide! Its almost too brilliant!

Again, I thanked you for bumping the thread in my last reply. It was genuine too, I wanted to do it yesterday but didn't have time. But again I get a reply laced with more outrageous accusations and language you only use when you are talking down to someone younger than you.
