All-Star
W T H........... damn the jazz got lucky w/ this guy. could you imagine if we had him AND artest on the same team? can Kobe say... LOCK DOWN? :D

Artest can't lock Kobe down and never could. He's not even intimidated by him.

Bowen is a much better 1:1 defender on Kobe, and that's mostly because he's allowed to grab. Even Patterson is a better defender of Kobe than Artest.

Kobe's had anything but an easy time with Ron thus far.

Well, no one can lock him down or shut him down.

But can slow him down well, as was showed in the Arco game earlier this season (17 pts directly, 24 pts total, not counting the two threes in garbage time, on 28 shots). Also, before when he was in season shape back in 2004 w/ Indy (obviously with help from the team defense again), he was held to the mid-teens in points both times, I think. The first game in LA I don't really take into account because Artest wasn't (and still isn't, but is definitely better since) in shape or as into things with the Kings then. It was a mixed battle and Kobe ultimately won. The second in LA wasn't a bad job on him, but not near the Arco or 2004 games, also was on the second of a back-to-back.

I dont think there are any lock down defenders in this league against premier players. I watched the past three kings Vs lakers games and the lat two games where Artest had a good showing defensively he got help. On every pick and roll, Brad or the other bigs doubled on Kobe.

It goes the other way too, the last game where Kobe supposedly locked down vince carter, all he did was lead carter to the next man and not allow him to shoot in between after he had got the first step over kobe.

These players all have such a great first step that I cant think of anyone staying in front of their man allways. Bruce bowen offcourse seems to in front of his man all the time and I agree with garg, its cos he is allowed to grab. Watch the players now in the perimeter and they all have their arms showing out to the refs so that the refs dont call the touch fouls or the little grab fouls. There are few players that dont do that and Bowen is one of them

Kobe is only intimidated by the prospect of other players on HIS team taking shots thus inhibiting his ability to jack it up 50 times a game.

Most players are intimidated by Artest. Not Kobe.

Never mind that. How's your budding superstar from Gospic, Croatia doing? Has he declared for this year's draft yet? You owe us an update.
