Highlights:

- Urban Land Institute's report said entertainment and sports complex can fit with transit hub in rail yards

- ULI reports recommends "transit village" and move the hub a little more east but that will require more land from Inland Real Estate.

- "City officials are confident that Measure A transit funding could be used for the purchase of that land."

- ULI agrees that there is plenty of parking near by that large parking garages are not needed

Ha! I knew it. Did you pro-arena people bully the ULI into making this finding or did ya just pay the ULI?

This new report is obvioulsy tainted. It does not have the clean hands of the first report it issued, in which it clearly stated that an arena is not an appropriate project for the railyard as it is to big and the site too small, that it would conflict with the coming transportation hub and the housing of Township 9, that it would cause noise and traffic problems for nearby neighborhoods and that it would further cut Sacramento off from its riverfront. The original ULI report recommended smaller projects that would be more in harmony with existing neighborhoods and that would b e a better fit with the TH and Township 9.

Mr. Lillis, you guys can play all the dirty little games you want, but I am guessing you have no idea how transparent you. We see you and yours clearly. When you play games of this nature in the press, you endanger the press. The Bee is on its last legs. Try some unbiased and actual reporting. Who knows. You might like it. Might remind you of why you became a journalist in the first place.

And I'm sorry it is also flat incorrect. I watched the entire original ULI presentation on the City website. They discussed a possible arena and it's benefits. That person who replied is full of it.

Exactly. He must be confusing the ULI report with some other report. Not only that, but the ULI has no dog in this hunt. They offer their assessments without anything to gain politically or financially. That's why I can't read the comment section anymore. It's full of ignoramoses who just try a different attack, when proven facutally wrong. Or they just go post the same drivel in a new arena comment section, so you have to keep proving them wrong. Too few people to pay attention to and that's all they really want. They are crying for attention.

It's at the edge of downtown and the railyards, but with the courthouse right there and a large arena, transit hub, it would virtually visually block the rail yards from the K street side.

And they are right that if you have to walk around a square to get to different transit hubs, you will be more likely to stop into shops, etc. located around that square. It's kind of like that in Portland. There's a nice city square by the rail depot, which is really a nice station.

Heaven forbid a downtown transit center and housing project be troubled by noise or traffic. We need to wall off the railyards and carve out another niche of suburbia. Raze Old Sac and expand the freeway while we're at it.

:D Someone who chooses to live in an urban area, has to know noise and traffic are just part of the deal. Some call it that energetic, alive urban "vibe." And they like it! ;)

I'd love to live in the rail yards, but it willl undoubtedly be too expensive for me.

Inevitably there is always at least one jerk that doesn't get that. When I lived in Boston, unfortunately for me, that jerk happened to be my downstairs neighbor. He'd complain if I walked across my floor and he'd yell at the alley every single night. Hopefully he wised up and moved to Waltham or something where he could be at peace.

It's like those people who move next to the airport and then complain about how loud the planes are.

Now that is the kind of thing that would encourage me walk with a heavy foot, maybe even get a big dog that could run and jump around all the time.

Reminds me of that great song, "One man's floor is another man's ceiling". By Billy Joel I believe. I better check, Warhawk has me looking over my shoulder now.

By the way. Reading the comments section of the Bee is a waste of time, and emotions. Those people are idiots that will say, and distort anything to futher their agenda. Facts or truth don't enter in to it. Sadly the Bee gives them far too much space.

Agreed. I don't even bother most of the time. I do pop in every once in a while to see what's up, but the naysayers have been much less influential. Some different folks are standing up in there and helping the cause and telling the truth. Much better than it used to be, but still not really all THAT important in the grand scheme of things. We have momentum now. Sacbee comments are just a fly in front of a train.

It's not important, but still nice to see the naysayers get put in their place. I laugh at their posts sometimes and other times I just feel sorry for them. Such unhappy people.

Unfortunately, this is typical, even mild, for the Bee's comments section- which attracts the lowest forms of life known to man. Everything is a conspiracy that doesn't bash the arena....

I work with someone like this. Constantly ranting angrily about the government, California and anything environmentally friendly. Basically the government is out to screw us any chance they get, acording to him. I get so tired of it.

OOO reminds me of a story. After getting laid off in 2001 (October) I was still kind of out of it, and the leaves were on the ground. I went to get something to eat and then parked in my neighbors spot on accident. I have lived there for about 8 months, and my neighbor knew what my car looked like, and where I lived.

Anyhow, he had it TOWED rather than just coming to me and asking me to move it or better yet just parking in my spot which was next to his. They are numbered and the leaves were covering the numbers.

Anyhow from October to the end of January when I moved out I made his life a living hell. Staying up all night playing video games and stomping around when walking lol (he lived below me). I am a night person so staying up all night was a given, but I made sure I let him know when I walked, and played my music loud all night. Speakers to the floor so it wasn't technically loud, but it did go through the floor. I did some other things, but I am not going to mention them here.. Yah, I am a jerk, and I will never deny that, but the dude was a bigger jerk for not telling me to move my car rather than costing me like $300 after I got laid off when it was getting close to the holiday season.

Believe it or not I'm actually far too nice a guy and dropped a grand to cover my hardwood floors with a heavily padded area rug.
