[Game] Trailblazers @ Kings - 2/2/12

i'd say your trade sensor is broken

I hope so, but there's an awful lot of pressure on Petrie to do something big right now. I just hope that the rotations tonight were Smart making good calls and not a reflection of movement behind the scenes.

Wow! Based on past games, I didn't think we could even hang with Portland much less win! But of course, it's been a long time since we have been really full strength, so it's nice to see the team beat a quality opponent.

so today is the first game in a long time with everyone back... how many have been played with Hayes and Thorton? Is this the 1st all year?

What was nice to see was effort, determination, TEAM play and good old-fashioned grit. That's Kings basketball!

Demarcus seemed to be sulking a bit at end of bench - but maybe not quite as bad as last seasons childish pouting. He only played 14 mins and was MIA basically entire 2nd half. I think coach is sending bit of a message. If you play within the Smart system, stay out of foul trouble, you'll get the big minutes. Otherwise, you'll just have some nights like these where other bring home the W and you can only cheer -what little cheering you did tonight from the pine.

If you're suggesting the Kings are going to trade Cousins you truly are bannanas. ;)

He may have been "sulking," but it was a lot different than before. It actually looked as though he might have even been a bit mad at himself for not being able to be out there at the end to help the team. I see definite improvement in our Mr. Cousins.

I saw him and IT standing and cheering when no one else was. He looked perfectly happy to come out with a win to me.

So if your guy doesn't play, the team should lose? Geez... player fans are gonna be the death of me.

seriously lol. I'm a little irked Boogie only had 14 minutes, but I'm more happy/impressed we were able to be an annual playoff team without him+Reke/Thornton shooting like crap for most of the game. Hopefully this game gets Salmons going and he can become a productive role player for us

Like I said, I hope I'm wrong. I think Jimmer might be on the trade block. IT is just a much better fit within the team.

And, as far as Cousins goes, I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that Petrie tries to pull off a blockbuster trade in an attempt to retain his job at end of the year. I hope he doesn't do it, but it's not an impossible scenario.

In any case, I don't mean to detract from the win. It was a good win and gets back a little pride from the two blowout losses to this team.

Good win but WTF is Jimmer in the doghouse all of a sudden? Doesn't even touch the floor? Really? Weak!

Rookies don't always play, especially if the guys in the rotation ahead of them are doing well. I'm actually a little surprised you even made that kind of comment.

You're surprised that I wanna know why the heck a player who's played in every single game and averages 23 MPG suddenly is DNP?

A good win. If Salmons can play like that consistently (not necessarily 19 points, but more efficient), then I would feel much better about our 3 position.. for now. Currently the biggest concern is the bench. We need players who can score. Only person currently I even trust is IT and he is a rookie (like he showed tonight with certain plays). Upgrade the bench slightly, get a shooter and I think we become much improved. Props to JT as well, I am loving the effort and consistency. He has not gotten enough credit for his play. Hopefully me saying that does not doom him to having a bad rest of the season! knock on wood

We actually had role players stepping up tonight and there simply wasn't room for Jimmer tonight. Salmons, Hayes, IT, JT all played great+40 mins a piece from Thornton/Reke leaves very little room to put Jimmer anywhere

Neither Jimmer nor Cousins are going anywhere anytime soon. We need to chill with the knee-jerk/instant gratification attitudes when dealing with young players. Sometimes players don't have their "A" game, so they ride the bench more than usual. It means nothing more than that. Sometimes you don't want to throw a player into a situation where success isn't likely. Doesn't mean coach doesn't like you. I know we're becoming (have become?) A society that needs an excuse or reason to blame for everything, but sometims there are salient reasons for why things happen that don't involve anything sinister Let's enjoy this for what it is- a win against a very good team.

Well said. It's one game, and we won.

Seriously? The wins are pretty few and far between right now and you reach for the wet blanket? Real fun guy at parties too I bet.

My, what a priggish lots of whiners y'all are. All it takes is for folks to express an outlook/opinion you don't like and the board gets their collective panties in a twist. It's like dealing with a bunch of women at the wrong time of the month.
