How can we trade Bibby and Miller twice and how can we expect to get 2 potential all stars in Redd+Gasol for either of them? Why do the other teams do that? I'm not going to rip you or anything because you're new at this but it doesn't make too much sense to me. Milwaukee needs Redd a lot more than Bibby because they have Mo Williams(young up and coming PG averaging 17/5/5 or close to that) at PG and nobody behind Redd at SG. So it's better for them if they keep Redd because their line up is more balanced, whereas if you add Bibby they have nobody at SG and that pushes Mo Williams to the bench. Redd is also a better player than Mike.

The Grizzlies could get a lot more for Gasol than Brad. If we were talking prime Brad+a couple of draft picks they might do it. But Gasol is better, younger, and he's an all star calibre player. He averages like 20/9/4. I don't see why they would want an old declining overpaid C like Miller over Gasol. They could get some young talent for Gasol, which is the only thing it would make sense to trade him for.

you need to give some insight on why each team makes these trades. i'm puzzled at some of them. it's like someone plugged in some names on a trade machine and voila whichever one works. put some thought into it.. 1) salaries match? 2) team needs (rebuild? slapping together a run a title IE boston celtics, salary dump etc etc etc) 3) direction of team..

i really don't see how any of these trades helps us build a contender.

why do we take michael redd when we have a stud SG in kevin martin?

what we give up for gasol is quite too much. several draft picks? what if we totally bomb and end up w/ a top 3 pick?? is he worth that much? not to mention several draft picks in a era where we will suck. gasol isn't going to push us over the top..

i fail to see why dallas would trade do that trade. those players are crucial to avery johnsons team. he requires players play hard at both ends or at least at the defensive end..

ouch lol. It's okay. Dallas might be do it, but the other two teams won't give up their star players for anything less.

I agree with Kyo2002, Dallas might do that last trade but the rest of those trade possibilities are a longshot. The Bucks will never give up Redd unless they get someone with equal talent as well as the Grizzlies wouldn't give up Gasol and Swift unless equal talent was received.

grizz won't do that. they just traded for milicic and JC navarro. gasol is staying unless a unbelievable deal comes along.

All your trades are pretty much one-sided.

Michael Redd's not on the trading block, last time I checked. And even so, I'm not so sure if Bibby's deteriorating value (let's see if he can redeem himself next year) is even worth Redd's value; let's not forget, Redd had a breakout season last year before he got injured, as he nearly averaged 27 points per game on great percentages. The Bucks would be foolhardy to give him up.

I heard Dallas did put Jason Terry in the trading block, but only for a great asset, and I'm not so sure they would take another PG in place of Terry especially since they want to see the rising Devin Harris start for them. Likewise, although Brad Miller may be an upgrade over Dampier, I don't see where that gets them. They may have Diop, but it's not their offense that needs flow, it's their defense (particularly interior).

After Miller's underachieving season last year, I'm pretty sure that Miller, Thomas (a bad contract), Garcia, and a couple draft picks alone may not even be enough to get Gasol. First of all, Memphis is not looking to get older players; last I heard they were going in the youth movement direction a la Milicic and Navarro. Taking in a bad contract too? And we also get Swift? Wow, that would be grand theft on our part.

ESPN is reporting that guard Juan Carlos Navarro will be traded to the Grizzlies for a 2008 first-round pick.

The Grizzlies and Wizards, according to NBA front-office sources, have an agreement in principle for Navarro, who is considered one of Europe's top guards and Pau Gasol's best friend. The move, if finalized, should help the Grizzlies keep Pau in Memphis for the long haul and give them another solid point guard with professional experience. His arrival could hamper the development of Mike Conley and Kyle Lowry, as well as render Damon Stoudamire useless.

oops they signed for darko and traded for jc navarro. got ahead of myself there :)

Other than the Gasol friend factor, which makes sense, but almost too MUCH sense (as it simple enough for any internet geek to make up on his own), why would the Grizzlies do that? And for a first? They just drafted Mike Conley! And actually had a pretty impressive first year holdover PG coming back too (Lowry). Believe it when I see it. Is Iavaroni aiming for a Nahs/Barbossa thing?

I was just thinking this as I read KMart's post. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense unless Navarro can play some spot SG, because Conley will be good, and Lowry is pretty good as well, not to mention that they still have Stoudamire. Maybe they have another trade arranged that will send either Stoudamire or Lowry out??

navarro is known as a gunner. i'm sure he could play spot minutes at both backcourt positions. they do have a glut of PGs now that they are adding navarro... still a while before the season begins to shake up the roster.
