Trade rumors bothering Heat guard Williams

CLEVELAND - Yes, Heat guard Jason Williams said, the rumors have hit home.

"The thing about it is how it affects your family," Williams said before scoring nine points in Tuesday's 96-82 loss to the Cavaliers.

With the trading deadline less than two months away, Williams said he can't help feel he's viewed more as an expiring contract than a needed contributor.

"We're like some high-paid prostitutes anyway in this league," he said. "They just use and get rid of us whenever they want."

Williams is in the final year of a contract that pays $8.9 million this season.

"If it happens, it happens," he said.

What Williams doesn't appreciate is being scapegoated.

"Losing, everybody's just going to start to look for reasons why," he said. "Blame this, blame that, blame him, blame me."

I wonder if this may lead to a Mike Bibby for Jason Williams and ..... trade. Who knows.

I completely understand Jason's stance on this BUT he's being paid millions of dollars to play a game. And a big reason players are no longer kept on teams isn't because of the teams. It's because of free agency and the player's union. Jason's knees are going and his market value has dropped significantly. He had a good run and he made a lot of money. Hopefully he invested at least part of it.

Teams trade players for expiring contracts because of how the CBA works. Williams is part of the union that lobbied for that agreement. He can't have it both ways.

He's being paid nearly nine million dollars... you'd hope he could cope with being traded!

In the same article, Damon Jones wishes he could go back to the Heat. He had his chance; he decided to get paid by the Cavaliers instead.
