Trade Deadline Thread

Kemba would actually work as a back up pg. Kemba and a first for Barnes.

Still think they need to throw a little bit more to get it done since I'd estimate Barnes has similar value to Caris Levert and we're taking on a contract New York doesn't want AND that trade can't happen because the salaries are uneven.

Yea, I haven’t ran scenarios by the trade machine, but you’re probably right. Though I think McNair would be inclined to attach Bagley and ask for Toppin back.

Doesn't help that none of the trade machines have been updated to reflect today's trade lol

So here's a bigger deal then. Let's call it the Vlade. Knicks apparently don't like either of the two big free agent signings they had last summer and apparently want them off the books (WHY DID THEY EVEN SIGN THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE?!). Barnes makes more sense with Don't-Google off their roster. I'm not a huge fan of this deal since Fournier's deal is an albatross and Kemba sucks now. But Obi might be worth a flier (especially with marvin going out) and that pick probably conveys with Barnes in their lineup?

I don't really like this one but it's a realistic trade that could both help us win now (Fournier is good, just not 100 million dollar contract good) and stock up with an asset or two (Obi and the pick)

Man, I want nothing to do with Fournier.

I like that we made a big move while other teams are getting desperate and we still have complimentary win now pieces to spread around the league.

Monte earns his salary the next 2 days.

I'd be really surprised if we were done dealing. If nothing else it's time to sell Holmes to the highest bidder.

Fans in general are pretty dumb. McNair just has to keep going and make sure he maximizes Fox/Sabonis. He's all-in now, there's no more half-measures.
Thats pretty selective.

Fans also hated a lot more moves that were actually proved to be disasters.

Firing Adelman
Firing Malone
Trading down for Salmons and drafting Jimmer
Overlooking Luka for Bagley
Signing Mikki Moore
et al.

OK, next step, Monte has to get Grant. Gotta use that pick now and no, no Barnes. trade Bagley/pick, see if Detroit bites. Barnes/Grant/Sabonis frontline is the only thing that makes sense. But Kangz being Kangz they'll put Sabonis/Holmes up front.

I remember the what if fox starts shooting like curry threads a couple years back when he had his hot streak
Well, since the initial shock of hali being traded has wore off I'd like to be optimistic rather then think about the prospect of fox and davion specializing as bricklayers.

It’s starting to feel like the argument is Fox is potentially just as good as any all star player but the situation has held him back. Mitchell, Booker, Lavine? Of course situation matters, but there is not a GM in the league that would consider swapping Fox for any of those players, and I would imagine they all generally understand he’s been in a bad situation in Sac. The reality is, for all of his strengths, Fox has some serious flaws in his game that have not sorted themselves out in a half decade. Those constant flaws (lack of shooting, ok playmaking, uninspired defense) are what they are at this point and the league knows it. Does that make him a bad player? Of course not, but you’re not fetching an all star for him. Getting Ingram is a pipe dream unless significant draft capital is included by sac (I would gladly eat my words if that is not the case). I would not love a fox/randle swap, but it absolutely is realistic value.
No GM in the league would trade their best player when their team is at or near the top of the standings. There isn't really a fair way to make the argument either way.
