Sabonis is 25 years old. This doesn't just feel like some "let's go all in at the play in" type of move IMO.

Man, this trade had me shook. Still can’t believe we gave up Hali. I thought for sure he was the only untouchable. He was so committed to turning things around here, too. Sucks to see him go as he was my favorite player.
On the other hand, a Fox/Sabonis duo could be a legit Playoff team for years. And Ham and Dave has said we’re not done making moves. Pursuing PJ Washington or John Collins would be my next move.

What's your definition of legit ? Because I'm seeing a perennial 8th seed first round exit at best. With all the injured players coming back the west is getting better not worse. A 3rd star is needed to be a legit contender in the west.
I agree with your analysis. But sometimes it works out to put the onus on the player to improve. And there might be a lot more catch and shoot opportunities with Sabonis passing out of the post.

Man, I know you said it as a joke but Sabonis-Randle-Fox would absolutely make me 150% tune into games. For better or worse it'd be must see TV and also so crazy it could work.
You are not wrong - but it’s probably easier for the Kings to get a third star now. And we have first round picks to use for trades.

I don't think you get both Obi and Grimes, but I'd be pretty interested in something like this. Useful rotation player/young guy/pick for Barnes.

I was basically working off the CJ deal for this. With Sabonis and Beal and Dame all off the table one way or another, teams might start getting a little more desperate to make moves. My initial idea had Reddish instead of Obi but he can't be traded with other players right now and I don't think it works financially.

When did Fox become Lebron? Less Fox linked players, the better.
I think having Sabonis, Len, and Jones on the roster already gives us the the ability to move on from Holmes.
Charlotte wants a center and are willing to give up Washington. It really is a no brainer.

Yeah, I'm not really enamored with a lot of the Barnes packages out there so I was just sorta workshipping trades that would work financially. Not sure how a Knicks trade works without Noel unless we decide to take on one of Kemba/Fournier/Burks/Rose

NYK won’t trade RJ. If Barnes goes to them, I can see Fournier, Toppin, McBride, and a first. Or since Thibs hates Reddish, a larger deal anchored by Barnes and Reddish.
