Randle's assist numbers are really good, 5 assists per 36 is huge out of a post player. That's legitimately peak Webber passing.

His shooting is really down this year, and from a quick-ish glance it looks like much of that is due to his jumpshot (at all distances) not falling as often as it did last year. Whether that means he is taking more contested shots, or whether it means that he's just missing, I don't know. If he can resurrect his shot, he can be a very, very effective player.

I'm not like head-over-heels for Randle, but he's on a somewhat cheaper contract than Fox, and I kind of have to believe that Haliburton-Randle-Mitchell-everybody else is a more balanced lineup than Fox-Haliburton-Mitchell-everybody else, at least if Randle plays up to previous expectations. (Remember Fox is having a down year too.) It's just a deal that seems to make sense for us, especially if we can get another cookie or so along with the deal. I'm not out here trying to deal away Fox like some are, but I recognize that we're an unbalanced roster and you've got to give something to get something. If you think you can compete right now, you probably hold Fox. But I don't see that, so holding Hali is probably the better build-for-2024 move.

Well this makes me feel a bit better about Randle. I’m not sure if it’s that he was a Laker, or I have the idea he might have attitude about being a King, or his age is a little out of line with Hali…. that makes me not keen.
If that other cookie is Grimes that’s intriguing. Someone earlier post that the Knicks fans compare him to Jimmy Butler and I looked back at Baja’s write up on him which was impressive. He’s another guard but tough.

Honestly, it would be the most picture perfect end to the Ben Simmons drama. It was thought that Daryl Morey waited too long to move on from Simmons and had missed out on the opportunity to trade him to the Rockets for James Harden, who was generally considered to be the superior asset prior to this season.

Now the Nets are dragging a completely unmotivated version of Harden around, and Ben Simmons could very well be considered the superior asset in spite of all his baggage. What a weird saga this has been.
 
Also the Nets/Sixers leaking this the same day a Dame trade became more likely is absolutely hysterical.

Current James Harden is a trash offer though. There’s a chance he gets motivated and turns good again on the Sixers but it’s not like the Nets were out of the hunt or anything before KD went down. The guy’s already 32 so there is a good chance his best days are behind him unless he suddenly learns how to give a damn about his conditioning.
I’m guessing the Nets would be asking for more than just Simmons in a deal too.

Yea that’s a disgusting trade, idc what anyone thinks about Fox. NO! Wait until the off-season if this is the kind of deal the deadline is providing. Yuck

I'm in general agreement. James Harden pays a lot of lip service to wanting to win titles, but I think he struggles with any demotion in touches that comes from playing on a high voltage roster. He loses motivation when he's not a team's absolute center of gravity. He clashes with his fellow stars when he's forced to share oxygen in the offense. And playing with Joel Embiid (as personality-imprinting an MVP candidate as there is in the NBA) wouldn't be likely to change any of that, either.

I'm glad McNair isn't selling low on Fox. He was actually starting to put it together again, and play well with Hali. It would be a shame to have him included in a package with a FRP for a player like Sabonis, who I would put on that same tier impact wise.

I think all you impatient folk need to relax. This board is crazy... the tank crowd is also the "do something Monte!" crowd. I'm happy to ride this tragic season out and get that high pick. Maybe Monte won't get ****** on a good trade by external forces for once and set us up this summer.

im with you all the way on this one. I’m in no rush to trade Fox just for the sake of doing so. Sabonis is nice but it would make more sense to put him with Fox if we wanna move the needle. Not saying that’s possible of course.

Damn that’s a lot to pay for they have to keep Thybull unless they can flip harris for role players. If I’m Morey I still do that deal pair Embiid with another star ASAP.

Also the 7 game series when they matchup in the playoffs will be absolutely insane
 
Im just going to say that if Fox get traded for Randle or any knick player, cuz none of them will help thid team (except barret which wont happen), and not include 3 FRP, then i think it would have been better to have let balmer buy the team and move to seattle. Its would be nothing more than spitting on the fans. Id rather role the ball out to watch fox and be crap than watch the randle iso show and be crap. I cannot think of a senario without multiple frp (no protections on 1st 2 years) where it would be remotely worth it for the kings. Now if they add randle to fox/hali, im down for trading anyone else.

I would like to see what a realistic offer/price for turner would be and what the pacers are asking for him. With respect to NO. Id consider Barnes to NO IF you get Jonas back. Then try to flip Buddy/Bagley/TT/Holmes/picks combos for either John Collins (ideal) or PJ washington.

Whatever we do, any deal for fox needs to be overwhelmingly in the kings favor. The rest of the world salivates at the chance and try to drive down his price. I spent the entire afternoon listening to ESPN radio where fans of the knicks cutting tbeir fingers off to get fox. That should make Randle capabilities to help this team clear.

There are many problems on the kings, fox is jot really one of them.

Randle outside of last year has had no real individual impact on a teams success. I posted this in the game thread. Kings 2-9 without Fox, and scoring in the bottom 3 without him. Now THAT is called impact. If the Kings trade Fox it better be to rebuild. Simple as that.
 
There's a good chance Blazers blow it up by the deadline. They could get a haul of youth and picks for Dame and CJ and completely bottom out. They're currently #10 in lotto standings - 21 wins, while OKC is at #4 with 16 and there are 4 teams including us with 19 for the 5-9 spots. Meaning they could very easily end up with great lotto odds, and almost instantly lap us on a rebuild. Which could theoretically result in their third playoff level core in the time since we last made the playoffs.

I can't wait until the rumors of Dame for Haliburton/Mitchell/filler/picks start. This is where Monte is almost boxed into making a move. He's has young pieces shining and a legit star type in Fox. Could go either way.

THIS. I like hali so dont get this wrong, but people think Fox is not a winner when the team has loaded him with a barnes, some deep bench players on most teams and expect them to win. Finally, we get him some help with Hali and before they can develop, we are ready for a trade. Look at the Suns, they drafted over and over witg zero success but stuck with the diamond they found in Booker. They made one financially risky trade but consequential trade for paul and it transformed Booker into a legit MVP candidate. The team sucked for years with booker, but he was not the problem. They smartly held on to him as long as possible and when they put some prospects (for us it would be Hali and Mitchell) around him and still went nowhere. They made a singular trade and the whole thing clicked. Move on from scrub pieces, be willing to take some risky bets on historically good players and it could work.

Everyone crapping on fox for “regressing” from 25pt/7asst/3rb (47.7fg%/32.2 3pt%/71.9ft%) to 21/5/3 (45.8fg%/24.8 3pt%/74.7ft% after signing a contract should maybe take a look at Randle’s numbers after signing his extension.

Yeah, the anti-Fox crowd is crazy for blaming him for the Kings woes.

Dude is an elite scorer, and sure his shooting and playmaking leaves a lot to be desired from a PG, but in todays day and age, you can get players 1-5 with that in their skill set to balance out a roster.

Where else are we going to get an elite scorer?

I'm down to trade Fox from a "roster balance" perspective, since it's looking more and more like McNair killed it in the draft 2 years in a row, but simultaneously shot himself in the foot as far as roster construction....

But the "we can't win with Fox" logic is dumb.

We can't win with the awful coaching he's had for the majority of his career, the terrible supporting cast (Buddy is garbo, everyone else would be a bench player on a playoff team), and an owner that never learns from his mistakes, but keeps making them.

A competent GM could absolutely win with Fox. I think this has been brought up, but swap him and Mitchell on the Jazz and both team records probably stay the same.
