[NBA] Trade Deadline Season 2026 Open Thread

Also what is the point in getting rid of Domas before Zach. Not to mention DDR and Zach are by their own accord besties. I do that with the right amount of draft capital. If Domas is truly worthless around the league so be it but I'd rather make the Toronto deal with him if picks are included.

We would be doing Domas a huge solid since he'd remain close to Napa though.

When I posted about Jimmy for Zach nobody wanted to talk about it. 2028 and 2031 are really interesting especially since Steph definitely has to be in the LeBron stage of his career by then if he hasn't hung it up by 2031 and since that actually becomes most favorable of SA/GSW (in practicality I am assuming our pick is gone) I like it a lot.

I have no idea if Jimmy will come back next year and if not would that net us compensation or would he need to medically retire. I also think no chance in hell he'd want to play for us so if he did intend to return he'd accept a buyout that might get us out of tax territory.

I would do that now that Jimmy is not playing and cannot help us win / will not take playing time for the kids / and is less able to sabotage the team. Can’t imagine we get more than 1 first round pick for facilitating and may need to combine Zach + Keon.

I don’t get this and sort of see the move Zach / Sabonis tasks as independent from one another. I think Zach could be difficult (not impossible) to move and we may have him until hist contract expires. Doesn’t matter too much if you don’t believe that he contributes to winning and you want a good draft pick next year (apart from the minutes he eats / the balls he doesn’t pass). I’m not in the ‘we have to move Sabonis camp’ and think he could pair well with a couple of the projected top picks. BUT if he isn’t part of the front offices long term plans and there is some market for him (e.g., a first round pick, a prospect or another first, salary) then move him.

If it involved Monk and a pick coming back now that Butlers out heck yeah. No way the Warriors do that though.

Why? You literally only clean one year off Domas's deal for this, how can that possibly be worth it?

Now, Jimmy+a pile of picks+Kuminga+Moody or Podz? Ok, maybe you think about that. Straight up or for one measly pick is disgusting

Huge savings. This would clear a TON of cap space to pick up the real goodies later on. I'd rather have Moody than Kuminga but Kuminga in a worst case would be all of that nearly 70 million straight off the books to build with in 2027. Right now the Warriors are set up GREAT for that period, this could transfer all of that opportunity to the Kings.

Question is how much draft capital can we get from the Knicks for trading Saric for Yabu and saving them n entire year of the dude’s contract

Media: "Knicks actively talking to multiple teams about Guerschon Yabusele"

Knicks: "Hey, y'all, does anybody know how to pronounce this guy's first name? What about his last name? Anybody?"

How the hell did Masai get away with giving Poeltl and Quickey these albatross contracts in the first place?
Poeltl is not cheap - but he's basically making Keegan money, which is not...terrible? He could be an albatross contract for an older team with established vets making big $$$, but for a rebuild he's not horrible. Gotta pay somebody, there's a salary floor!

What Poeltl is is an established C who can rebound (not on the Domas level), can move the ball a bit (not on the Domas level), plays decent defense (better than Domas) and shoots very high percentages because he basically takes all of his shots at the rim. Obviously he will not spread the floor.

If we want to move away from having our C position be a primary offensive hub and creator, Poeltl isn't a terrible fit. He's a bit overpaid, but I can see trying to move forward with a Poeltl/Raynaud/Cardwell as a defense-first frontline trio, each grabbing 20-25 minutes in the C/PF positions (leaving some TBD at the PF, which could potentially be picked up by somebody like an Achiuwa).

Grabbing Poeltl would actually be compatible with drafting 4 of the (current) top 5 prospects (with Wilson being the awkward fit who would slide in better next to Domas in my eyes). But if we were to draft a primary on-ball guy like Dybantsa/Peterson/Flemings it would be possible to move away from "big" investments in the frontline. Even Boozer would work OK, because he's going to play as more of a 4, though there would likely be some minutes crunch on the frontline in that case.

So I can see such a thing working.

That said, Domas is far, far more valuable than Poeltl as a piece, so the pick haul coming back would have to be real. No "two SRPs" here. Toronto has all of their FRPs available, so they'd need to pay up with a couple of those and maybe some swaps.
