[NBA] Trade Deadline Season 2026 Open Thread

This feels like a mix of GM, fans of a team (I want them out), fans of buying teams (I want to steal), wishlists.

I feel like quite a few of these guys have no market value or on untradable contracts wrt their market value. The most likely players to be moved on the Kings are Saric and McBuckets because they will be matching salary on whatever deal we do make, followed by Carter and maybe Keon, who would be the sweetener for a Zach deal.

Why?

Portis is a win now player and he's on the same money timeline as Monk. And it costs us Keon to do it?

I'm not really buying these recent reports. It'd just be trading to trade, it doesn't advance us forward in any way.
Feels like this trade rumor in particular is the Bucks trying to set a high market for their role players so they can make a desperate attempt to retool around Giannis.

“Well I can get Monk and Ellis for Portis so you’re going to have to give us extra whatever for him!”

Yeah, it doesn't shave off that 3rd year from Monks deal although a bit however possibly saves the Kings from overpaying Keon. Again, be very, very careful about Keon. For even more reasons than they should have had reservations in paying Monk with no real test of the market.

If it’s a straight swap no but if it was for a first and then you could send Portis to Detroit (alleged interest) for 3 seconds it would be a yes for me.

Yep. Portis one would figure has more value than Monk to be flipped? Clearly Monk is an anchor right now. The issue is when he goes to a team and starts and the contract doesn't look quite as bad. That's inevitable though so big whoop.

You cant possibly think that makes sense or is good for us?
