I think it's just an interesting reminder how much better the NBA is than any other league in the world. The top player in Europe comes over here, doesn't do horribly, actually pretty good, and is still buried 8th or 9th in the rotation on a good team. I do think he'll get his chance, but Brown's certainly not giving anything to him. As it should be.

Distraction to what? I don’t see what the big deal is. They’re still regular season games…it’s just a way to add a little more incentive to them and YES try to make more money with merchandise and programming. This benefits both the players and the owners…and if it makes the players care more about a regular season game then it benefits us as a fan too. Yeah it’s not a ‘chip but nobody is trying to make it that. I was meh on the whole thing going into it but I’ve enjoyed the “tournament” games I’ve watched…just get rid of the hideous floors.

Hmmmm…. Isn’t this whole NBA experience ultimately just for entertainment. Note saying you have to care about it, but if all it is to you is the same thing as a regular season game, then why would you care? To me, it’s something else to follow, see how it all plays out. Seems to add a different angle to the early part of the season.

500k usd doesn't make sense to me as well, I think not everyone cares that much about money.
I think there needs to be a more competitive incentive to it and then people will care a lot more.

Didn't get a chance to watch this live, but watching it through:
-Our Offensive swag is back. We of course had times where we stalled out offensively; no Fox and OKC defense is going to take care of that, but we were so so back to playing that free-flowing/good vibes/fast pace/02 Kings type of ball where everyone gets involved. Domas and Monk start to move different when they're in a groove and the rest of the team feeds off it. The hapless team that showed up in HOU and partly vs Por is gone.
-Shout-out Keegs and Huerter. Perfect game to show why we won 48 games last year; both of these dudes were a huge component as to why. When they're rolling, we're rolling. Love that the shots are starting to fall and we're getting excellent contributions from them all over the floor, especially on the glass and defensive end. That's going to be crucial for us to continue to improve and take the team to the next level.
-Keon Ellis played his way into the rotation. Dude is nails defensively and made life about as difficult as you can for a player of SGA's caliber. Just adds a real toughness we don't get with most of the normal rotation guys. Offensively, I think an important distinction with him compared to Davion is he's not a ball-stopper. He plays within the flow of the offense. I'm not really sure how you get him in, but he needs to be a 15+ MPG guy when Fox gets back
-Speaking of defense...we played excellent team defense overall. Dare I say Domas was a rim protector tonight? Keegan continues to shine defensively and Huerter continues to get after it on the glass. We need this to continue once Fox comes back.
-Shout-out Sasha! Stayed ready, hit 2 huge 3's and honestly looked pretty good defensively out there. He's just a tough dude that likes to play physical and that's how he's going to last on the defensive end. Game started to turn back into the Kings favor when he got in the game and I don't think that's a coincidence.
-HB continues to look very very slow out there on defense. I'm hoping we didn't just sign him to a 3-year deal, only for him to hit the age wall and the athleticism to totally wane. But at least Brown saw it that he just can't be on the floor in crunch time right now. Keon was absolutely the right call and a big reason we were able to close this game out.

Did they replace the gold chain with a throne?
Because its irritiating noise in this format. You wanna make an "in season trounament" with "real" meaning? You can model after the premiership and do away with the playoffs. The regular season instantly takes on grander meaning and all teams are "in" Each regular season game takes on a 1/82 weighting for the championship. And only a real playoff would occur at the end with any teams tied for best record.
I think they replaced the chain with the crown and added a throne as well.
