Ill try to find a link later but I just heard on the news here in Milwaukee that TJ Ford was traded for Charlie Villanueva

Im trying to find more info on this but the sports guy on the news just said that Ford is heading to Toronto and CV is coming to Milwaukee

wow what a blockbuster trade. i like it for both teams, though i wonder if ford can remain injury free. if so, he would be good in a raptors uni. villanueva with bogut and redd is intersting too.

Well that would be a ncie/interesting trade. Means Williams and Bell would be off the block -- Bucks clean up their PG position in the most unexpected fashion. Would also mean the Bucks are no longer in the market for a PF. And for Toronto cleans up their rotations too. They commit to the rook as their SF, Bosh as PF, Rasho as C, Ford as PG, and have one starting position left to fill. Not at all sure it makes them any better than they were last year though. Rasho for Villanueva and Ford for James are not exactly talent upgrades.

Went "wow" when I saw this on SC just now...

Now the Bargnani pick makes sense... no more log-jam. Raps get their pass first PG and an athletic, quick, tough one in that of TJ Ford.

Bucks get an athletic PF/SF in Villanueva, which they needed as they had all centers and a back-up now in Joe Smith. Looks like dealing KT there isn't an option anymore. ;)

Bucks might still be interested in a KT for Joe Smith trade -- they're going to need some rebounding, and the Kings could use Smith's expiring contract.

I figured the Raps would be mixed. Villanueva did have quite a year for them though. Maybe they don't like that TJ can't shoot? Mo Pete and Bargnani are there for that now.

Bucks I saw a lot of people not digging it... since TJ was like their #1 or #2 player.

But, Colangelo has turned this team around in 1-2 months. Nice. I'd think 1-2 more moves, too.

I kind of think that the Raptors could have done better than TJ Ford for Charlie Villanueva. CV is a lot to give up for 12 points and 6 assists. But maybe that's just because I've never been much of a fan of Ford.

Ford is a pure PG and the Raps will really be able to run up and down like Phoenix now which is what Colangelo wants. I also heard they're going to go after Peja.

TJ/Mo Pete/Peja/Bosh/Nesterovic can make the playoffs IMO.

Ford averaged 12.2 points and a team-high 6.6 assists in 72 games last season following a spinal-cord injury that sidelined him for a season and a half.

"He was an inspiration to all of us when he found the will and strength to fight back from the neck injury he suffered during his rookie season," Bucks general manager Larry Harris said. "We wish him much success in Toronto."

The 6-foot Ford was the No. 8 pick in the 2003 draft.

"We are sorry to see Charlie leave, but getting better comes at a cost," Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo said. "T.J. Ford's best attributes, quickness and playmaking, are a perfect fit for our team."

Harris hopes Villanueva will fill the team's need for a power forward to complement 7-foot center Andrew Bogut, the top pick in the 2005 draft.

The 6-foot-11 Villanueva, selected seventh overall in the 2005 draft, averaged 13.0 points and 6.4 rebounds in 81 games for the Raptors. The former Connecticut star set Toronto rookie records for points with 48 on March 26 at Milwaukee and rebounds with 18 on April 2 against New Orleans.

"Acquiring Charlie takes care of a primary need we had going into the summer," Harris said. "He's a gifted power forward who knows how to score both inside and outside. ... The outstanding rookie season he had last year is only the beginning of what he's capable of achieving."

The Bucks, with a revamped roster and Ford as floor leader, reached the playoffs with a 40-42 record last season. It was a 10-game improvement from the previous season when they didn't make the playoffs.

In the playoffs, they lost 4-1 to Detroit in the first round.

On Wednesday, the Raptors selected Andrea Bargnani with the No. 1 pick in the draft. The 6-foot-10 European has drawn comparisons to Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki because of his outside shooting skills. Playing last season for Benetton Treviso in Italy's Lega A, Bargnani shot 37 percent from 3-point range, and the Raptors might have viewed Villanueva as expendable after drafting Bargnani.

This is a good trade for both teams and I must say that I like what Colanglo is doing in Toronto. Firstly he dumps some rubbish in Utah then gets a legitimate shotblocker and 7 footer to play next to, and free up Bosh without taking on any more salary than they had. He then goes on to clear out a bit of a logjam at forward position and in return gets a VERY good young PG that will suit the style of play Raptors want to implement.

All this and he still has bucketloads of room in the salary cap to go after some quality FAs.

IMHO, it finally looks like Raptors are moving in the right direction.

Nice move by Colangelo. Ford is the best guy he could get for the way he likes to play. If I was a Bucks fan I would be a little disappointed I think Toronto gets the far better talent, but CV is a very good player. This definately means Magloire is going somewhere and maybe they'll be looking for PG in return?

And Bargnani?

Yeah he can be a 6th man type of guy this year IMO. I don't know if he'll eventually play center because he's 7 feet tall or if he's really a PF. If he's a PF I don't know where they'd play him because of Bosh...

At draft time they were actually talking about him as a revolutionary Dirkesque SF type more than anything else.

wow thats a suprise trade. CV was doing well in Toronto and I think he could of helped them at the SF position. Plus they already got Mike James at the PG so they just need a better center and a bench.
