Time to think MLB?

I think the way football is set up makes it more feasible to flourish here in sac. Baseball and basketball not so much. Football can succeed in small markets, i.e. Green Bay. I would give my left arm for an NFL team.

I would prefer the Kings, overall. Buuut I would gladly do dark dark things for an NFL team if it came down to it.

Um, guys, when the City owns the Natomas property (hopefully sooner rather than later), there is the foundation for a baseball diamond already constructed. A downtown arena works well, but there isn't room for baseball there, too. Use what we have to our advantage. And Raley Field isn't designed to be expanded. See Wiki.

The stadium was not designed with expansion in mind; therefore, if a major league ballclub (such as the Oakland Athletics, who are the major league affiliate of the River Cats) ever moved to Sacramento there would be significant work required.

Been an A's fan for 40 years. The threats of relocation has been hanging over the A's for a couple of decades now. The reality is, MLB and the A's both consider Sac to be too small a market. I think the A's will be contracted before they move to Sac., Besides, Wolfe has his eye obsessively fixed on Santa Clara, even though that will never happen.

Too bad they didn't make Raley Field expandable. A short sighted error by the powers that be.

Actually they did make Raley field expandable. Don't remember all the details, but I believe it was laid out to be expanded to seat aroun 35 thousand people, and if so, that would be the way to go. Being an ex-baseball player, naturally I would be for a team moving to sacramento, which by the way, has a great tradition as a baseball town.

The original plan was for Raley Field be expandable. However, I think JB is right, as I heard that they cut corners in order to come in on time on on budget. As a result, the foundation was not completed in a way that would allow the ball park to be expanded.
