G-League
In Euroleague action today, USVO lost 59-50. USVO is the French team Ticha and Chantelle are playing on in the off-season.

Ticha's line was 40 min, 2/7, 1/4 on 3's and 2 FT for 9 pts; 3 assists, 3 TO, 5 steals and a team-leading 13 rebounds! :D

Chantelle played 37 min., 1/4 and 7 FT's for 9 pts; 6 TO, 1 Block and 6 rebounds.

Is it May yet???

Good job ladies! Oh and Still JD where do you go to get this info? :) How does Ticha get more than double the amount of rebounds as Chantelle?

DW22 - You can check out the FIBA web page. They have all the Euroleague information.

I'll be on vacation next week, but if no one picks up the slack, I'll try and update when I get back.

Last Week's Stats...

A victory 67-53 for USVO...

Chantelle led all scorers with 20 pts (8/14 from the field and 4/6 FT's). She added 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block and 1 TO. She played 34 minutes. The post-game story said:

"The lead just wasn't enough though and in the second period the French visitors went on a run, mainly thanks to a great effort from Chantelle Anderson. Zaporozhye held the game close but at half time were down 28-31...The third quarter however was a disaster for the hosts. They were unable to contain Anderson who led Valenciennes to a 13 point advantage."

Ticha played 40 min., had a 3 and 2 FT's for 5 pts, 6 assists, 6 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 TO.

No problem Slug, it helps stay connected on the long off-season.

This week's action was a little more disappointing.

Ticha played 37 min., was 2/3, 0/3 and 0/0 for 4 pts,; 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 4 TO.

Chantelle played 22 min., was 4/7, 0/0 and 1/2 for 9 pts.; 3 rebounds, 4 TO.

Next up...Ticha and Chantell's team will take on Tangela's team. This will be Tan's first Euroleague game. Most of the teams play in Euroleague and then in their own country's league, but unfortunately those pages are not in English and it's hard to keep track. I can pick out a little French, but when I tried to get info on DeMya in Chinese....well, let's just say we'll have to wait for another source of information on her!

I forgot to add these pictures:

Nov. 24 Update

I'll post on this thread since USVO beat Wisla 74-58. It was close the first half, but the French team pulled away in the third quarter to cinch the victory.

The good news: Tangela, in her first game, was the high scorer for her team. She played 29 min. off the bench, was 8/14, with 5 rebounds, 1 assists, 1 TO and 2 blocked shots.

More good news: Chantelle lead USVO with 19 pts. (8/14, 0/0, 3/6). She also had 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 TO and 1 steal.

Ticha played 34 min., had 3 pts (1/2, 0/1, 1/1). She also had 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 TO and 4 steals.

I have a question about why the ladies go overseas.
The question is do they go to improve their game or do they go to make extra money.
Who could blame them... From what I understand the income is better over there.
But the reason I ask is that if it is suppose to help their game, then I have some real concerns about Ticha.

I Love her as a person. She has been a mainstay in the area. But I need to feel like she is committed to improving that jumpshot. I need to feel like she is tired of being a brides-mate. I hope I am not out of line.

Am I the only person who feels this way?
If somebody knows better... Please share it with me.

Luv 13, I'm sure there are as many reasons the players go overseas as there are players. My guess is the #1 reason is the money. Another reason may be boredom (9 months off is a long time). I'm sure some go to work on their game in a playing situation. Some may go for the adventure - heck, I'd love to spend a few months in France or Italy getting paid to do what I love. And for many I'm sure it's a combination of more than one factor.

As for your second part, a player can work on her game wherever she is if she is committed to do it. Every season we discuss Ticha's lack of being an offensive threat as a huge liability for her team. Every off-season we hope that she spends her time working on this short-coming. Every season we wait anxiously to see if she did. Every season we are disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I love Ticha too, but her old-school style is being left in the dust. In a league where the new prototypical point guard is a passer and scorer, Ticha is quickly becoming a dinasaur. And it's not that she can't. For some reason she just won't. I hope she proves me wrong this next season.

I for darn sure have stopped hoping to see a change, 'cause I don't think I'll see it.

I do think Ticha is the best active defensive point guards this league has ever seen, and she is a terrific ballhandler and somebody I know I feel very comfortable with the ball in her hands trying to run the offense.

But I also agree she has slowly but surely been marginalized in the league by the younger point guards who in addition to the flash and razzle dazzle also can hurt you with their offensive game, or at the very least being an offensive threat. The days of Ticha the allstar or Ticha the all league are long gone 'cause the voters not longer even look her way. I think too, her assist totals will continue to decline (regardless of the offensive style the team plays) because teams will be better able to deny her passing options because she doesn't shoot.

In a narrow defeat on Dec. 22, USVO lost to Lietuvos 83-87. The real story of the game, however, was Ticha's performance. She led all scorers with 18 points, snagged 10 rebounds and dished 5 assists. This game went to overtime, due largely to a disastrous third quarter for USVO, which had a 42-26 lead at halftime.

Chantelle played only 11 minutes, scored 2 points and grabbed one board.
