Thoughts on Ron's return to Indiana on Friday (merged)

harrison for sure. We got noone that can guard him

Foster is a multiple TDM award winner - so it goes without saying

I hope that Fred Jones plays. We could use some help

I agree that we may not see Ron on Peja much. Smaller, quick guys really throw Peja off by getting in his grill. Martin (or Garcia - he's back any day now and I'd like to see that matchup) fit the bill.

I only worry about Ron trying to do too much to get back at the fans. I worry that he'll kind of be his own person out there with his own agenda and try to drive the ball into the teeth of the defense all of the time. But we'll see. Ron hasn't done anything to make me doubt him since he's got here, no reason to now...

Don't be surprised if Harrison or Granger have solid/good games. Harrison's been playing well since JO went out, and Granger has gotten better and better when Artest went on the inactive list. I wouldn't consider them TDM award guys unless Harrison gets 20, bunch of boards, 3-4 blks. Granger can get a double double almost any night along with steals and a blk or two. Like with most rookies, they can be foul prone though. Indy has a very good future with those two, Fred Jones (guy is having a break-out season, continuing from part of last season), and if Tinsley can stay healthy.

Peja= 5-16 shooting, 23 pts/6 rebs. Average Peja night, for this season, at least. Ron doesnt really need to do much to take Peja out of his rhythm because Peja takes Peja out of his rhythm, he still hasnt really found his shot, even with Indiana. Ron will only frustrate Peja that much more. But, I hope I'm not wrong and goes for 40 or something against his old mates. :D

5-16 with 23 points means alot of FT's lol I bet peja is held to around 15. Ron **** kobe down for40 minutes of the game... Peja is as weak as a child. he will be owned.

We should put Artest on Granger/Jackson(I agree with foretaz). I remember watching Indy vs GSW a while back on TNT and Golden state just got MURDERED because the pacers fed Jackson the ball in the post so much. I don't remember who guarded him when Jrich was off the floor, I want to say Dunleavy or Fisher. Whoever it was got owned though. If Ron can give the Kings 15-20 points and good defense I'll be happy, so basically that is an average game from Ron. I hope Brad can block shots like the way he did yesterday, if he can we'll have a good chance of winning.

How will Ron be received back in Indiana? And how will he react?

It seems to me that if an integral player from the Kings had been suspended last year and then, after being enthusiastically welcomed back this year by the fans, requested a trade & threw a heckova wrench in our season I'd be pretty p***ed off as a fan. Will he be booed Friday night at Conseco Fieldhouse? Seems to me, yes...and quite visciously!

Personally, I see this as a huge test to gauge Ron's mental fortitude. He'll be pretty pumped up & I imagine peja will be too. Heck, all players on both sides probably will be!

Anyone else have any thoughts about Friday's game?

He will not be received well at all...and he will respond by completely shutting Peja down.

Sounds good to me...but shutting down Peja will seem like such an easy assignment when you just shut down Kobe...at least slowed him down. :D

I'll be there and I expect most fans to boo him very loudly, I will not be one of them. I still love the guy, and miss him a great deal.

I think there'll be some things early, but he'll get going and do fine. Fans will be very mixed, and probably boo most of the time when he touches the ball. Peja will get some baskets, but will have a pretty tough night.

I think we win it, though am not definitely expecting a win.

He's gonna get booed undoubtedly IMO. There may be a few cheers but they will probably be lost in the waves of boos. We have to go in there and back up Ron. He has single handedly ressurrected this team from the dead, and everyone on the team knows it. I think Ron will enjoy going into Indy to avenge his demons. And Ron should have no problem shooting because he used to play there, but just in case he has an off night, every other KING had better be there to back him up.

He'll be booed big time. It's up for debate, which fans would boo him loudest: Indiana's or Detroit's?
I think he'll just ignore it and play his game like he did when the Celtics fans booed him most of the time when he got the ball in his first game as a King. Right now he's so focused that I don't see him doing it any other way. If his teammates egg him on a little bit he might be inclined to play the "bad guy" and laugh at their boos, flex after he scores a bucket and things like that but like I said, he's too focused for that right now. His main motivation for what he does is himself, his teammates and his coaches. You could put him in an empty gym and he'd play the same way.

I predict that Artest will handle himself perfectly. Peja will probably try to gather 12 rebounds. Ron Artest has a new home, and I suspect that he likes it. I also think Rick Adelman is a major reason for the Kings ability to attract and keep alleged troublemakers. I really think Rick is the heart of the team, a very quiet heart.

This is already being discussed in another thread, so I'm merging the two...

Brad will be fine

i think the issue becomes when brad is out of the game...if the time comes that harrison is in the game with SAR trying to defend him, it could get ugly....

thats provided, harrison actually is allowed to play in the kings game after his outburst this evening....

Ah, but you forget. We have Mr. Potatohead.

Bwahahahahahaha!!

The truth is that Vitaly would be a good matchup for the "Hulk".

Brad is going to have a tough night on Friday. Foster, Scot, and Harrison are all of the bruiser type.
