This week in restless fanbases

Don't mess with Oakland.

Lacob screwed that up. He should have ignored it and moved on. I was listening in the car when that was going on and the booing made me laugh. Then he addressed it, and then Mullin came to his rescue, but they were still mad at ownership (for good reasons). Then they patronized the fans with that "Greatest fans in the NBA" line. When the fans didn't bite on that, they tried to shame them. Dear god, the league is out of touch with the customer. NBA Owners are like buttholes, they spew a lot of crap and then get perplexed when people say they stink.

all of the above may be true, but it ultimately ignores the fact that the moment belonged to chris mullin, and for that, warriors fans should be ashamed. jersey retirement ceremonies are traditionally very emotional events for the players involved, and the fans in the building showed an unfortunately poor grasp of tact by booing joe lacob on a night that had nothing to do with joe lacob. boo him at any other time, but not when an nba legend and bright spot of the organization's history is being honored for his successes...

Completely agree. Chris Mullin deserved better than that. It was Chris' moment and he deserved it. Always enjoyed watching him. There is a 6-6 SF that anyone would be advised to emulate. Smart, smart, smart, slow, slow, slow, but good, good, great.

Then Lacob shouldn't have followed up Mullin. The night had been all about Mullin until then. You could have had Nelson do the unveiling or just not have anyone speak and reveal the jersey. It was an unnecessary addendum.

Also, where else are they going to get such a forum to boo him and express displeasure?

Don Nelson and Chris hate each others guts.

Ditto! Kings fans didn't boo the Maloofs at Vlade or Chris's jersey retirements. The Maloofs spoke both times, but the fans were there to honor the players and the Maloofs were incidental to the meaning of the moment. (Although the Maloofs made very generous contributions in the name of both of them, which was nice)

I think Warriors fans acted with no class at all and ruined what should have been only a positive, great night for Chris Mullen. Good grief.
