this has become a sloppy, and turnover prone team

Of course they are...lots of new players, only 1 practice in so far. What did you expect?? Great ball movement?? :/

they'll get better as time goes by but we don't have near as good of a passing team as we did a couple of months ago.

The most problematic area when there are trades is going to be in everyone's timing. Problems with timing = turnovers. Practicing together (when they finally get back home) with be crucial to correct this team shortcoming. Give it a little time.

That's because our #2 assist guy is gone. Our defense didn't get better. Our rebounding didn't get better. Our offense got worse.

We needed a Thomas, but we got the wrong Thomas.

We need someone like David Wesley for the 2 spot once Mobley goes in the summer. Great defender and has good offense to keep Adelman happy.

What do you expect? They traded away their best passer. They are gonna have to adjust big time, they haven't been without a great passing big man at the top of the key for 6 years. Their whole offense was predicated on that, I can't believe people didn't see that. Hopefully Brad can run some more stuff in the high post for us and open up the lane down low for backcuts.

i wouldn't go as far as saying "pathetic"

especially with 3 new guys/guys coming back from injury/no practice time...

its been just two games where we noticed the turnovers get the best of us...tonight didn't even compare to last night...

so take it easy a bit

Good points, but all that will be for nothing if (in no particular order): Bibby does not adjust to the new role (and quickly) and Pedja does not start helping on the boards (I am not talking 10 rpg's - but anything below 6 is unacceptable).

well im mainly frustrated with mobley...hes been a turnover guy his whole career...hes spent too much time with francis....and its not just since the trade, im talking about ppl trying to make plays that arent there.....trying to force balls in between 2 people...we cant just be having that

First game back for Pedja off a hamstring injury so I'll cut him slack for boarding. But yeah... if he doesn't pick it up then it just puts too much pressure on whatever power forward we pick up, to perform. I think Brad has pretty much reached his peak for boards. He's not going to get much better. Peja definitely can be better and he has been in the past.

I don't think it's a matter of Bibby adjusting to the new role as Adelman having to rework his offense. Peja used to get a lot of shots off Chris and Vlade. Brad, while a good passer, is no Chris or Vlade. Adelman needs to recognize this and scrap some of the plays off the big men. I think Peja needs to learn to do the Webb/Bibby pick-n-roll. Mike can't adjust to Peja if there aren't plays drawn for them.

Great post. I agree, the turnovers are a direct result of missing Webb's passing & integrating a whole new team midseason. It hurts. It will work itself out eventually, but not without some growing pains. It's one of the reasons that trading a key player (or "the" key player) mid season is so risky.

Right. Don't get me wrong the new guys have had almost no practice time... the flow will come(hopefully), but a lot of people underestimated Both Vlades and Webbs Value to this offense.... a lot of people.

The Important Thing Is ...

The King's work these problem areas out at least 1-2 weeks before the REGULAR SEASON ends ... and the King's DO NOT DROP out of the playoffs !!!

I'd accept and expect the King's to take at least 5-10 games to work these problems out.

It's not just a matter of more time playing together. You've lost your three best passers within a year and gotten more shooters in return. The player turnover has made the team dissapear and the focus changed to individual accomplishment. Bibby is trying to prove he's the new go-to-guy now, Mobley is doing the same but doing worse at it, the new guys are trying to prove they belong and you got guys like House and Evans trying to prove they shouldn't be lost in the rotation. The whole team play concept is struggling because there is no spoke in the wheel.

They don't seem to be playing like a team that trusts each other yet thats for sure. Is it just me or do the Kings look like two seperate teams playing on the floor at the same time out there...

Yeah, it's hard to establish a team dynamic when players are thinking: "Who's next to go?" and "Wasn't he untouchable?" They aren't stupid. They know moves will be made in the summer. The players gotten did nothing to account for our deficiencies as a team in the long term. Of course everyone's going to have something to prove.

We just need to play longer to get it together

While many of the other analyses are right on, I think this short and simple one sums it up. It going to take time and health. How much time? Not sure. VERY hard to rebuild on the fly the way we have had to this year. Hopefully everybody can be settling in and used to playing together by the end of the month.

I usualy wait untill posters get 500 or so posts in before evaluating their performance but hey if you want to evaluate a team thrown together on the road after loosing is top player and sitting 3 starters with injuries... well I think you get my drift.

I'll agree it's important Al. If we lose in the first round this year I'm going to be pissed, and not really at the players or even the coach. I hope I'm way off base. I'll gladly admit I'm wrong if this team does some damage this postseason.

Same thing is going on with our tradee's new team ("He Who Shall Not Be Named"). The intricacies of the game are what keep us hooked.

Too bad all this had to happen so late in the season. I think that is what is getting our collective goats the most. 'Cause we want our team to WIN IT ALL!!!

"Like that's gonna happen" said the nay-sayer.

Peace.

While I agree with alot of the comments on this post, I feel there are other things that need to be addressed. I have this gut feeling that the refurbishment of our beloved Kings is not over. GP is setting up deals for the off season. The offensive game is still there and running well, even with the sloppy play. The new guys will get in sync or RA will sit them down. The biggest problem is defence, RA said it in his post game comments. they scored enough points to win. You can't continue to trade basket for basket with one of the worst teams in the East. I know about all the reasons others have stated about lack of practice, injuries etc.... We need some hardcore, in your face, body to body Defence. The moves need to be made to bring that to Sac town. Yea, I'm upset that we did'nt win tonight. But I'm also sick and tired of watching those other teams win championships and have a attitude that dares you to score over 70.

Turnovers were not the Kings problem tonight, they only had 12 turnovers!

The problem was rebounding. there were more possesions where a key rebound would have stopped a magic run. there were at least 4 possesions where the kings gave the magic 4 rebounds and never grabbed the defensive board.

To blame this on one player is not right.

Yup and givne the over all pee poor rebounding of ALL the palyers no one is exempt either.

Frustrating... but this trade just came at a bad time in the middle of a tough road trip. The guys won't even begin to get a chance to get some real practice time in until they get back. The first two games were adrenaline games, but now reality has set in.

We'll have to be patient.
