Thanks for communicating on Twitter to him.
That said, if Dave unquestionably believes what "numerous people with the team" are telling him, maybe I should be selling HIM the swampfront property.
Either he's incapable of seeing how a unified front of statements could be cover/smokescreen, or he's willfully propagating that smokescreen - I can't decide which would be worse.
OR.....ORRRRRR.....I have friends over there that have never lied to me in over a decade that were actually a part of the conversation to bring in Thibs. The ones that told me when Vlade fired Vance, he told Karl he could bring someone in to consult, but it had to be a defense guy. And Karl chose Thibs.
Your response to this could (and should) be "Well Dave are those the same people that told you Karl would be fired?"
To which I would say "touché". With this organization who the hell knows, although the Karl info wasn't wrong at the TIME. No accounting for last minute changes of plans. No one "lied" over there.
Note how I wasn't "pushing" anything, just relaying the same doubts most of us had, and bringing back the answer(s) I got.
How about we go in this direction:
Coaching is a fraternity. Karl is a future HOFer and is highly regarded by fellow coaches, many of which are a part of his "tree".
So how do you think it goes if a guy is brought in either by a coach OR GM towards the end of what is certainly a lame duck year to consult, and then takes over the following season? Think that goes over well?
We also haven't added that he's done this with other teams this year, and will continue to do it with other teams later this year.
Oh, and Thibs will have his pick of the open jobs, not to mention will command somewhere in the neighborhood of 6-8 million over 4 years. This team just spent a ton on Karl and will have a big fat payoff in June.
So listen, it's your right to think I'm being naive. And it's totally your right to interpret things differently and hold out hope. I for one would LOVE Thibs. But I'm also keenly aware that I wanted Karl, so I don't get to advocate for any more coaches.
I'm going to go ahead and let the only guy other than Malone to ever get DMC's attention help pick the guy. And that being said, yesterday's news officially took Thibs OFF the board for me, and he would've been my top pick.
