Dude, I have no doubt in my mind that this was the Maloofs. Petrie is a true blue basketball guy and he knows damn well that Theus was the least qualified guy for the job. This is the Maloofs making the choice based on "flair" and personality. If this is true then this is just the tip of the iceberg, this means that the Maloofs will be more than likely calling the shots this whole offseason. If I was Petrie I wouldn't stand for this crap, he's the basketball guy and even though it's the Maloofs team they shouldn't be undermining his job. They should've learned by now that they don't know anything about how to run a basketball team.

If Petrie had nothing to do with this hire too then why doesn't he quit if the Maloofs hire their guy and not who Petrie wants.

There is an option on their website to stream the broadcasts from there, you should check it out if you can't get reception the traditional way.

Agree with you on both counts. Maybe the comparison we ought to make is not Theus vs. Shaw or Rambis, etc., but rather Theus vs. Musselman. Frankly, Vlade4GM, I'd give good odds that you'd be an improvement in that regard.
Neither the Maloofs nor Petrie were around when Theus was here. Maybe that was an entree, maybe not. One could argue that the Lakers wouldn't have hired Pat Riley as coach if he hadn't been their radio announcer. And I dispute the notion there are "evidence and facts" that support Shaw's case over Theus'. We'll both have 20-20 vision in retrospect, I suppose.

Because he gets paid a lot of money, and perhaps unfortunately has learned how to keep his head low and only push the guys cutting his checks so far?
People may considerably overestimate Geoff's competitive fire/desire to win a title vs. being very well paid, comfortable, and just doing the best he can.
In any case, Geoff may not have even been there for the second interview so a possible way to interpret all this is that Geoff put together a list, did the first interviews, and then started trotting guys up who he thought the Maloofs might green light. Would nto even surprise me if they were in rough order of Geoff's preferences in the matter, or at elast in the order that he thought the Maloofs might go for them. SVG + Rambis. Then Brooks. Then onto Shaw and Theus. And...ooops, the Maloofs went for one.

Reggie Theus deserves a chance and I'm willing to give him a chance; however, this is clearly a Maloof hire. He might be better than Musselman because at least Reggie played in the NBA, unlike Muss. I would love hiring Reggie Theus as an assistant coach, but not as the head coach. The team is going to stink next year anyway...I honestly don't think the Kings even know what they're doing anymore, to be honest with you all.

i dont have a show producer, and im at the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to guests....so:
I know Hank and Tank.....and grant obviously (meaning i can call them)....i googled "NMSU sports radio" and called the request line, had the board op there call someone who called someone who called someone.....its tough to line it up so quick after 5pm, so i did the best i could.....

It's KHTK, not CNN. Perhaps they're just a little more interested in being positive than in crying doom and gloom ... especially since he's not even in town yet.

With the kings and larry brown not being able to come to terms on lenght of contract and role of assitant. Larry Brown has agreed to be the assistant coach to whom ever the Kings pick as coach.

if you've ever listened to me brick, you know i will rip this team at the drop of a hat. i have to get reaction and insight, and i dont know who i could bring on that is a reggie hater, although from what the phone conversation sounded like, the people in las cruces arent too happy, so it may not be all "love-fest"...
just because im covering the story doesnt mean i support the move. i was all about larry brown or brooks/shaw of the candidates we heard of. Theus was dead last on my list...

This interest me and actually has me as excited about the assistant as i am about the head coach. Maybe Rudy T or Mike Fratello.
