Some interesting stuff. He is stressing a "fun" atmosphere this year rather than the X's and O's. The best part of the interview was that he wants to be less of a control freak a la Musselman this year. Now we will see how far that will take him.

"Basketball is supposed to be fun, we're supposed to be having a blast," Theus said. "This is the best time of your life. Wait 'til you actually have to work for a living!"

He said that when he was first hired, too. I think we're gonna see a return to the times when you could feel the camraderie of the players. And that certainly helps make the whole game experience more enjoyable for all concerned...

As for who Theus will start, the coach said that's up to the players. "I don't have a clue who's goona start. I don't how many minutes a player's gonna have. They decide that."

That part totally intrigues me. Players actually earning their minutes by their performance? Things are gonna be interesting, that's for sure.

The Artest-Theus Bargain

To me, the most interesting statement in the interview was when Theus said that if Artest plays D, Theus will get him his shots. Is this the deal made with the devil?

Im kind of in a wait and see mode no matter what he says...because, honestly it all comes down to what we see on the court. He could talk all day about what he wants to do and how much fun we are going to have..but if we start losing all of that will be lost.

I do like the fact though that time will be decided by the players which basically means to me that Kenny Thomas will get practically no playing time at all

He knows Kenny wants to start and get legit PT...So what better way than for Theus to say, "the guys determine who gets to start and play"

very true...but you cant fix the fact that you are terrible just by trying hard.

nothing is worse than blowing layup after layup after layup and then being a general downer for the rest of the team.
