I could care less, but if he was born in Mississippi I think he'd have been a Che t-shirt wearing bong ripping aughts version of Bill Walton. He's an attention whore and a d-bag.Wait, people didn't like Hawes because he's a Republican?

As I posted earlier, there are MANY precedents to this. You should know, the Seattle sale to Bennett is one of them. Ellison had a higher bid to buy the team and move it to San Jose. Bennet had a lower bid and promised to make an effort to keep the team in Seattle. Chopp ended that effort, the team moved.

But it isn't the same, again, I'll reiterate, Schultz chose a lower sale price, the NBA didn't force him to take Bennett's deal. Also, Schultz had other investments outside of his ownership in the Sonics. The Maloofs primary investment these days is the Kings from what I can tell, plus they'd be dictated terms as to who they are selling to. Its not the same situation. Rejecting a Hansen sale only to sell at a lower valuation to Ranadive is not in the Maloofs interest. They want to maximize as much money out of this as they can. Just because Schultz chose to accept a lower bid doesn't mean the Maloofs will do the same, in fact every indication is they want a lot of money out of this deal as they are going broke.
You're right, KJ did a great job to get that deal for your city, and as an outsider I thought that would go through. Terrible owners got in the way. I guess I meant the NBA was orchestrating a way for a new arena deal plus new owners that weren't engaging in shady business practices. Fill me in, prior to KJ, is Sacramento known as a tough political city to get a public subsidy done? I guess I'm just basing assumptions on my impression of Californian politics.

And again I'll reiterate that if the NBA strikes down the sale to Hansen the only deal on the table will be from the Sacramento group. You acknowledge that they are going broke so I'll ask - do you think they'd take that deal (where their cut would be around $16-$20 million less than what Hansen has upped his offer to) or do you think they'd refuse, hold on to the team (possibly losing that much money next year owning a bottom dwelling team that they have neither the means or motivation to improve for a fanbase that has turned on them) and spend millions fighting the NBA in court?

Maloofs are out for sure.
Prior to KJ, Sacramento managed to put forth various efforts to subsidize an arena. The most famous one being a effort that went to public vote and, just a couple of weeks prior to the vote the Maloofs came out publicly and stated that they didn't endorse that deal, that it was not good for the city. Then their $6 million dollar burger ad came out and sealed the deal - the measure was defeated 80% to 20%.
All along the way they have rejected and sabotaged any attempt to build an arena or do anything that would bind them to a long term deal.
The NBA is not eBay. They are not required to ONLY look at the high bid. Consider if a known criminal had the high bid would the BOG have to sell him the team? Or if A billionaire wanted to buy and move a team to Anchorage and they had the high bid should the BOG grant it? 2 years ago the BOG did not approve the move of the Kings to Anaslime (larger TV market) arguably in part because there are fine examples of small market teams the OUTPERFORM large market teams (look at OKC now) My point is that high bid is is not a deciding issue here, especially when the BM are already reaping WAY over market value for their team. But it isn't the same, again, I'll reiterate, Schultz chose a lower sale price, the NBA didn't force him to take Bennett's deal. i would still proceed with caution, the maloofs have been known to go back on their word.
I'd agree in most cases but I really think this is a sign the Maloofs are out.
We have to assume they've now seen the Sacramento bid which means they know exactly what they'd net in that deal. That being the case, if George wasn't really comfortable taking the Sacramento offer if Hansen's bid is voted down then why make the comment? Why not say nothing at all? Or why not say that you prefer to proceed with your agreed upon sale? If nothing else, it doesn't help the notion of an anti-trust suit when you make public comments that you'll take either deal once the Sacramento groups bid was officially submitted.
I've tried not to get too up or down based on any piece of news, but if this is an accurate quote from George Maloof then that's a significant boost for Sacramento's chances.
I would also add in a very biased bit of optimism that George said this as he sees that the vote may go against Hansen and he will have to deal with that. Perhaps the battle has been won. OK, OK, calm down!!!!
Again, I'm trying to be even keeled about all of this, but I WILL say that whatever it is that we think we know I can guarantee that the major players (the Maloofs, Hansen/Ballmer, KJ, Ranadive/Mastrov) have more insight. It certainly is possible that George has an idea of where this is headed, but I don't want to go too far down the road of positive speculation.
Correct, but the land is useless if the EIR and/or lawsuits say they can't put the arena there.

Spokesman says George Maloof would “prefer that (vote on Kings sale) be sooner.” Didn’t mean he was OK with either outcome
Excessive lying is a common symptom of several mental illnesses. For instance people who suffer from antisocial personality disorder use lying to benefit from others. Some individuals with borderline personality disorder lie for attention by claiming they’ve been treated poorly (though it is not diagnostic).[7] Pathological lying, on the other hand, can be described as an addiction to lying. It is when an individual consistently lies for no personal gain. The lies are commonly transparent and often seem rather pointless.[8]
I suspect we all have known someone who lies when the truth would have worked just fine.
I'm not sure those two tweets are indicative of lying but just someone calming George down to be less impulsive in releasing thoughts. Impulsive he is.
or hansen laid the smackdown after seeing that.

What about his history?
C'mon Glenn pile on here.
My diagnosis based on all available evidence is that he is a spoiled arrogant bastard who finds it impossible to tolerate frustration. Kinda like a 2 year old. I don't think the other brothers are like him at least their public face. I'd love to know what went on in this family that they thought George should be the boss of this operation unless he was the only one with a smidgeon of business sense.
I think Mama Maloof took away Gavin and Joe's toy and grounded them indefinitely. Although ..... wasn't George in charge of the Palms? Oh, who cares? This is like TDOS except more serious. Every once in a while I need a break from the deadly seriousness.
