The Tyreke DMC Banners

Even though the Tyreke banner wasn't fully hoisted yet, and hadn't gotten a vital piece (arm with basketball reaching up), these banners were pretty impressive.

You can get an idea of their size as I was dwarfed in by Tyreke in one of them. By the way, I gave them an idea of having stage smoke coming out of DMC's mouth, like Godzilla. lol

i guess id have to see it in person...but does anybody else think the little (or BIG in this case haha) pop outs on cousins' banner seem a little strange? if i wouldve done it i wouldve cut out the whole ball and made it pop out. idk what couldve been done about his head (shoulders and up popped out?) but yeah, it looks cool. i really like the fact we're giving so much hype to our team, it creates a lot of buzz

Looks like the Maloofs are really going for broke here. With their backs up against the wall on the arena issue and two (potentially) scorching hot young stars, they've heaped the future of the franchise on these two kids, one of which we know without a doubt is up to the task, the other of which, we strongly suspect will be. It's as if they are saying "if we can't get a new arena right now, we'll put these giant banners on our old one, and make it look new and different." Not a bad approach, given the building holds up structurally.

It WILL have to be replaced eventually, but if it can hold up another five years, while these kids prove themselves, go on a run or four in the playoffs, who knows, things just may work out. It seems like really the only option for the Maloofs if they want to stay in Sac. These banners are a sign that they definitely do, and that they know Tyreke and Demarcus leading the franchise to glory, with the full promotion of the franchise behind them, are really their only hope for a successful future in Sac.

Yup, and I think it will be there until we get a new arena...I think that '6' sits right on top of the first Indian to be laid to rest in the burial ground Arco was built on.

Because 2 HUGE banners really matter? Am I the only one who sees through the BS? Instead of getting a new arena, we settle for HUGE banners. I'm sick and tired of how disgusting Arco Arena is compared to all the other Arenas around the league. Their scoreboard has 1980's written all over it, the signs along the walls that say "DEFENSE" etc. are SUPER TACKY and look like they're out of a junior high school gym, and I can't stand the way the seats at Arco don't even match the teams colors anymore. The box seats are crap, the suites are crap, but hey.... WE GOT SOME BIG BANNERS! It disgusts me to see that Entercom highschool or whatever it is down the street from Arco looks better than the place OUR CITIES NBA TEAM plays in.

I will not buy another ticket to a Kings game until they update their Arena, or DROP THEIR PRICES by 50%
Of course we go to see the Kings, no matter what the facility may look like...

But as an analogy, would you want to pay 80 grand for a Kia? Or would you demand that you drive a Mercedes if you're paying 80 grand? I'm just sayin......

In case you haven't noticed the Maloofs have been trying to get a new Arena. See through the BS??? Demand they upgrade the facility, or build a new one???? You're saying this as if you expect the Maloofs to build a new arena, as if owners solely taking on the expense of an arena is common place (which it is not), like the Maloofs are holding everyone hostage, and refusing a new arena.

So, your solution is stop giving money making it exceedingly more difficult to put a quality team on the floor? That'll get everyone really excited about the team right!?

The government of Sacramento are the one's to blame. If you want to demand anything from anyone, demand that our city and county officials get something done asap!! There is a very real and feasible plan on the table with backing. Government is holding it up. If it was up to the Maloofs the plan that is currently on the table would be in progress yesterday.

I understand people are frustrated with the lack of a new arena, but neither Kings fans or the Maloofs can demand anything. They are trying to get a deal done and it is an uphill battle.

Right now the most likely scenario (IMO) is the Kings leaving Sacramento because the latest effort to build a new arena will likely be voted down by the state government. Boycotting games won't help in getting an arena built. At best it does nothing. At worst it is another sign to the Maloofs that their best approach is to move the team elsewhere.

You very much misunderstood my post. Very much.

I was not suggesting that the Maloofs are intentionally trying to spit shine Arco with the banners of our new young studs rather than pony up the cash to get a new one. To think that is a possible scenario is built on incorrect assumptions regarding the Maloofs ability to get a new arena, which I did not imply. Now if you want to go **** and pee all over ARCO as your way of "demanding" more for your money, good luck buddy, but that's not really a solution, that's a teenage drunken fantasy. With all due respect to teenage drunken **** and pee fantasies, they usually don't get billion dollar projects done. Especially in recessions.

I don't mind that you called the post ignorant, we all have our opinions. I'm sorry if I made it sound like I'm solely putting blame on the Maloofs. That's not what I meant. I did mean to demand a new arena as in the city officials, and everyone else who's responsible for the extensive delay on the overall goal. Giving our franchise an up to date place to play. Keep in mind that the Sacramento area would be devastated if this team ever shipped out of town. We need this team in Sacramento. I honestly meant GOOD in my post. I wasn't trying to be a troll.

Agreed. If not a new arena, ATLEAST some upgrades. New scoreboard, new illuminations around the building, maybe a new mascott? HAHA sorry maybe I'm going to far.. Slamson is getting a lil old haha
