THE ring

Talked briefly with Coach T as he sat courtside at the Kings/Nuggets game tonight. Asked him about the Monarchs Championship ring.

When will you get it?
"We'll get it the first game next season."

Have you seen it?
"Oh yes. It's beautiful, but it was too big, so they're resizing it."

That's the Maloofs for ya.

Seriously?? Here I thought that only the players and coaches got championship rings. Or is that who you meant by staff.

"ALL the staff" gets a WNBA Championship ring?

Of course, the players and the coaches (including assistant coaches) get the ring. And I'm sure the Maloofs will get a ring.

But how about the rest of the front-office staff? Will Ruthie Bolton (who works for the M's public relations dept.) get a ring too?

Ruthie definitely gets one. Hell, even Lady Grooms gets one. And it's not like she was doing any "scouting" for the team during the season.

My friends sister works on the janitorial staff at Arco. She told us everyone will get a ring. Now it may be different than the players ring...less diamonds & all! I'll keep you posted, I can't wait to see it.

It is usual for everyone in the team's employment to receive a ring. However, the players, coaching staff, and owners' rings are the only ones that have their names engraved on them. They also have more stones in the design.

Hopefully the Monarchs fans will get a facsimile ring at the first game too...we did and so did the sparks fans. Ours were gold plated copies and the Sparks were silver plated. I hope the Maloofs do the same for their fans.

I am now definitely going to be at next season's first game if that is the case! However, I would think that only the STH's get the rings.
