The NBA is full of corrupt refs

We lost this one on our own. The refs didn't help, that's for sure, but there were plenty of chances to make this game much tighter and a bit more interesting. That being said, NBA refs have never impressed me.

When rebounding an air-balled shot is a goal tend but putting your arm through the hoop for a block isn't..... you've got an NBA ref....

Who said anything about that. I just would like to point out how horrible officiating has been in so many NBA games ive watched and it's all very frustrating.

I don't know how many are actually corrupt but they do ruin a lot of games by calling too many fouls. They need to lighten up and let them play.

The Kings had MULTIPLE chances to catch up toward the end of the game and couldn't capitalize. They must have been tired. It was pretty pathetic watching them make a pick and KNOWING they where going to blow the play at the other end of the court. that pass by Thornton was the cherry on top of a bad night.

Any questions?

I'll say this. If the refs were corrupt and wanted the Thunder to win, it could be to the disadvantage of the Lakers, who could drop all the way to the #4 seed by tomorrow night and be on the road in the second round of the playoffs. That coupled with the fact that they've played 100 games the past three seasons, plus the Olympics for Gasol and Bryant, and it could hurt their chances in the playoffs. So if that's the kind of corruption we're going to see from the officials going forward, I'm not going to complain too much.

I've been saying this for years now. What in gods green earth is the point of calling ticky tack fouls all game? The fans hate it, the players hate it.....so whats the point of it? Is it David Stern? Job security for the refs? It slows the game down and takes the physical aspect away. If a guy takes a jump shot and the defender taps his elbow after the ball leaves his hands....whats the point in calling the foul??? It had no effect on the shot, didn't knock the player down. It's no worse than putting your hands on a guy and fighting for position in the post.

If they'd quit calling stupid fouls then we wouldn't have to watch players flopping all game. I mean just watch these guys drive the lane and make lay ups. They fall down almost every time! Even when they are untouched they'll leave their feet and purposely just fall to the ground for no reason other than to try and trick the refs into calling a foul.

I'm a big believer in letting them play. But most of all, what I want is consistency. Call it the same way for both teams. And don't start off the game not calling anything, and then in the second half get the whistle stuck in your mouth. If you going to call a technical on one player for making an ugly face after a foul, then call tech's on everyone that makes an ugly face. Just be consistent, thats all I ask.

The two blown goal-tending calls hurt but that was only 4 points. Kings lost by 7. As others have said several times herein, there were many other chances where the Kings shot themselves in the foot blowing chances to catch up and pass OKC. They were just the better team especially since BOTH teams played the night before.

Yeah a couple of the calls bugged me a lot, but the Thunder are the better team and showed it last night. Their offense was a lot more disciplined and our defense was pretty awful. I think the Thunder shot something like 58%. That's not good defense.

I will say, though, that if DeMarcus deserved a tech, then Durant did, too. He complained quite a bit after one foul call on him in the second half. I thought, "why isn't he getting a technical?"

The increase in foul calls this year was a planned initiative to artificially increase scoring, a plan Stern excused with the claim that this was exactly what the fans wanted. To go along with this, they put in the ironically named respect the game practice to tighten up lips.

There is a progress fans go through with NBA refs.

The initial reaction is to get mad at the refs and think they're out to get your team.
The second stage is to see that the press avoids the issue and to not want to get caught looking bad, you laugh at the angry people and think that you've risen above the issue.
The final stage is to realize that the previous stance is cowardice, that the refs aren't out to get your team but are just working for a sport thats become pure entertainment and needs some sort of force to control the drama, and if not control the drama, create the drama.
