They're on an arc unless Bron signs here for the min. There will be a reckoning. They rode Shaq and-or Kobe for 14 yrs and coming up with replacements to either will be extremely difficult. Granted, LA will probably always be competitive, but the difference between competitive and winning TITLES is superstar(s). Unlike UCLA with Wooden, the Lakers have won zero titles without one. Superstars are hard to come by even when you've got good management and other advantages and, yes, Pau is a high caliber player, but he isn't a superstar.
Gargamel, I say this with as much friendliness as I am capable of having towards a lakers fan: go to hell.

I think it was s-less reffing, frankly, but I'll take the outcome. Wild swing from not calling anything, period, to reverting back to standard calls at the end. Some of you will probably disagree with me that they made standard calls at the end, but my beef is the wild swing in style, and not good-bad-no calls.
Games 1 and 2 were s-less as well where they sent key players to the pine w/ soft touch fouls like it was a Toronto-Dallas game.

Heard things around Staples Center have started to turn ugly in past few minutes or so. Reports on KFI radio LA say a large group of Laker fans have gone into some kind of rage against the machine in "celebrating" their second consecutive NBA championship. Some cars have been vandalized, at least one set on fire, police trying to restrain the rowdy crowd but being pelleted with rocks by some of the punks. Film at 11...

Yeah, the Eses are out of control again. One guy got a 5 man beatdown. They set a cab on fire. This stuff was mostly from a group in between two crosswalks w/ cops blocking them in on either side and not really wanting to enter the fracas.

I gotta give the Boogers credit though. Tough *** team. Allowed to be that way, but still tough. The best man to man on Kobe since Thabo (<-- joke for you, Pedro). The chubby guy on the Suns who's supposedly a scrappy defender got outworked by Ray F Allen of all people.

If you've seen my other posts from before, you'll know that I've acknowleged kobe as a good player. My problem with kobe is how overrated he is.
Its game 7 of the finals. Biggest game of kobe's career.
-Isn't kobe suppose to be the most clutch player in the world?
-Aren't greats suppose to show up in game 7s?
-What happen to "kobe will be the one to will the lakers to victory"?
-Most of the media "experts" picked the lakers to win, and the main reason they gave was "kobe bryant".
Yes its one game, but greats are SUPPOSE to shine. No ifs or buts. Thats what seperates them from the mortals. kobe didn't.
I've stated kobe does not show up at big playoff moments and many kobe homers on this forum has jumped in to defend kobe. I don't know how this wasn't a choke job tonight. Thats my point.

I thought you said you weren't a kobe homer. Its hard to believe that when you can't even admit kobe choked tonight.
If the lakers loss and kobe had the same exact performance and stat line, he would be answering questions of why he choked for the next year. If Peja shot 6 for 24 in a game 7, he would be called a choker even if he had 15 rebs.
On top of shooting 25% in the most important game of his career, he did not do anything else in the game other than reb. He did not create offense. He was clearly unsure of himself and nervous. Heck even the lakers radio station play by play guy said "kobe is clearly being affected by the game 7 nerves".
You also forget this is kobe bryant, the guy who is suppose to be the most clutch player alive. Doesn't he live for this moment? Isn't kobe suppose to be the guy that wills the lakers to victory. At one point he was clearly scared, dumping the ball off to someone else when the D was not closing in on him. He is not expected to bring zero offense in a huge game like this.
The turning point was when Phil sat out kobe because he was messing up the game. The other guys got to do their thing with Gasol and kobe came back in when the lakers gained momentum. He stunk so bad that phil had to sit him to have a chance. Thats what you call choke.

Fair enough. For the record, I am a home bred Sacramento Kings fan, and I absolutely despise Kobe and the Lakers. However, I am realistic, but I can see how you stick by your beliefs, and I respect that.

NP, I understand and do agree with some of your points. kobe is good player, no doubt. But he is overrated. He is not very clutch when the lights are brightest. The facts are there.
He had a pretty poor series. He put up stats, but at the cost of a lot of shot attempts and also icing out his teammates. He didn't elevate his game nor did he help his teammates to rise. He got MVP because he's the biggest face on the winning team. They would have lost if Phil didn't yank him and keep shouting at him to pass the ball.

Game's not all about scoring, Pierre. Kobe had 15 boards over Allen's 2. If they don't get that production, they lose, flat out. He shot poorly, that's all I'll give you. Also, he's played well in other Gm7s, ahem, so I'm cool with your venom for tonight at least. You'll have to get at me a week from now. I can't be mad.

this is an odd graduation gift from the heavens a laker championship.... why do I have that sick twisted feeling in my gut.. is it just me or are there any other kings fans out there feeling the same?
Again... I am a sport and I will say congratulations again to the laker fans posting here (gargamel and hoopsfan and the other guy with a shaq avatar before) hopefully the time will come sooner when you will congratulate us on our Championship

Just like kobe living up to his history of choke jobs, you are once again in denial regarding kobe. I'm used to it from you by now so its all gravy.
This is kobe bryant, not Andrew Bynum. If drew had 15 rebs and shot poorly, you can say he still had an ok game. kobe is SUPPOSE it live up to his expectation of being "the man" in the clutch. He is suppose to be the guy that wills them to win. Not only he shot very poorly in the biggest game of his life, he did not create offense. This is not what "kobe" is suppose to do. He really looked scared out there at a certain point in the game. It was actually funny as heck watching his expressions hahaha.
Phil was close to admiting kobe was messing up the game in his pre 4th qtr interview and showed it by how he sat out kobe to allow the other guys to do their thing.
I'm not trying to convince you so believe what you want. I know what I saw and so does every non laker fan out there.

When your coach feels he has to sit you out in order to have a chance, you must not be playing very well. Its way more than just the 6 for 24 shooting. Its also how kobe was messing up the offense.

I barely remember it but my gf just reminded me that I told her around All Star break that the league is scripted and that the Lakers would win the championship this year according to the script. Can't remember why I came to that conclusion at the time but there was some piece of info that made me so bold. I told her then we needed to bet everything we had on the Lakers to win the championship. Of course we didn't.

as far as we can say that this was an exciting finals.... seriously it took 7 GAMES for the lakers to beat an aging old celtic team? with a ray allen who's jump shot was fading?
nate was good in certain keys of the game but.... Eddie house would have made a difference... i dont understand too why marquis daniels was seldom used i remember him having decent D also.
we wouldnt be having a game 7 if ray ray was shooting 40 percent from the 3pt line would we

Kobe choked. I agree entirely. But your questioning his greatness is honestly rather idiotic. He is one of the best players ever in the league so far. If you disagree with that then you don't know basketball very much. Yes, he is over rated. But in a couple of your posts you said he was simply a good player. Now that's bull**** to be honest with you.
Give good players credit where credit is due. Tyreke Evans will one day be in a similar situation. All big time superstars are overrated one way or another, but the fact is that every one of them has put in tons and tons of work and effort to become the great player that they are. I feel it is unfair to take away what they have worked their ***es off for.
Sorry guys, but I just hate the Celtics more than I hate the Lakers. Not the prettiest series you'd hope for, but I think there's a lot to be learnt in terms of seeing how championship calibre teams play. Princeton offense isn't gonna win championships.

Never put yourself in a position to have to root for the lamers. That's why I always bet small against them when it seems a certainty that they will win
