kingskings! said:I agree the man wants attention, he's called every show on KHTK today. Having said that, it's more that he's adding details rather than giving three different stories. And having said that, there was no mention of the looming Escalade anywhere in any of the verisions I've heard.
But, I also agree with Lamar. Change the name to the star player of any other team leaving early (and I tend to believe that Chris did leave early after listening to Koz tonight on the radio), and we'd be making so much fun of THAT OTHER player, we'd all have to buy new keyboards before the night was over.![]()
jeffjcalweb said:doubtful... what you didn't hear is that webber isn't rolling around on his own, and behind his bentley is a big ol' escalade ... i've seen webber around town and every time he has a car full of his boys trailing behind him.
so, in retrospect, i do believe not trying to "peek over his shoulder & get a pin #" ranks very high on the survival scale!
VF21 said:If it was anyone other than Chris Webber, would this even be under discussion? I've resigned myself to the fact that for some people Webber will always be under the microscope. I'm sure if he inadvertently fails to toss his aluminum cans in a recycling bin, someone will find a way to tie it to a Kings loss.
I'd like to see anybody here stand up to the constant and continuing scrutiny Webber has had to endure. If he was at the ATM, which I still doubt, so what? If he couldn't be on the court, what difference did it make if he was on the bench, in the locker room, or on his way home?
VF21 said:You're missing the point. There is NO PROOF whatsoever that this caller, who has changed his story three times now, is anything that he claims OR that he actually saw anyone - let alone Webber - at an ATM.
This is nothing more than a tempest in a teapot, IMHO.

When you are making MILLIONS of dollars a year you don't go hit up an ATM for at most $300 in $20's. You care $100's and lots of em. Next time you see the Maloofs ask em how many $100's they have on them at the moment. They won't answer, because it will be waaaay to many.
Now do we really think Webb is gonna go to Wells Fargo for $300 bucks in $20's? Riiiiight.
What's wrong with this scenario: He was pissed and just said "F" it. He walks thru the tunnel, takes a shower, and just leaves. Impossible? Well, he's only human ya know. Give him a pass? That's up to management. But in my little scenario he does get a pass, as he has before, for publicity sake. But he feels real bad and kicks arse on Duncan Thursday. Anyone liking my scenario so far???VF21 said:One thing to consider: Pete Youngman, the trainer, could have told Webber to go home and stay off his foot as much as possible to see how badly it would be swollen the next day.
After debating this virtually all day, I have come to the conclusion that in order for there to be something sinister or wrong in this, you have to believe that Webber isn't really the team leader and doesn't really care about the team. I refuse to believe either of those. IF - and that's still a big IF - he did leave, I'm sure there was a very good reason and it could well have been that he was told to do so by the training staff to get his weight off the foot so they could evaluate it in the morning.
VF21 said:EDIT: Oops. I keep forgetting about all you big-city folks. Our ATM up here has a very strict limit. It's not like we have anywhere to spend the money anyway...![]()

G_M said:Where was Chris?
Maybe he should have been on the bench suffering with everyone else.
He is the LEADER right?
Not to obsess or feed into some crazy ATM theory. But, it's a legitimate question.
G_M said:The story is that he was NOT on the bench at the end of the game. Thats it!!! Forget everything else.
Extenuating medical reasons aside it would have been NICE for the LEADER to be there going through it with the rest of the guys. Even if players feel that way they would not say anything in public.

Agreed ^^ ...any fan who left a game that early isn't a true fan in my book anyway. I can't trust anything this supposed "witness" says. Why would Webb need to go get money? So he could go buy a cheeseburger or something?? lol, his boys are there 24/7 to make sure he can get anything he wants. There is a bad element at Arco lately... you've all noticed... They don't like the fact that Webb had that kind of a stretch(28 13 and 6)... and they are taking the first oppurtunity to take a shot at him(since they can't complain about his play)... aren't you proud of me VF, I didn't say "haters" once!love_them_kings said:I just don't think there IS a story. I don't trust the account of Webber being at the ATM from some guy who changes his story so many times. SO, why worry about it. Webber has been a great leader all season long. Why worry about why he left when we don't even know if he left? Even if he wasn't on the bench, he could have been in the locker room.
