Even if I disagree with the decision to fire Adelman the Maloofs are still some of the best owners in all of sports. They are the best thing that ever happened to the Kings.

It's easy to take a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately perspective with the Maloofs, but if you look at where the Kings were when they arrived and where they are now, the difference is astounding. Winning starts at the top, and the Maloofs are winners.

Actually the Maloofs AREN'T winners, which is why Adelman is out of a job. They're GAMBLERS and they're tired of not getting the big prize, even though the odds have been stacked against them every year.

I opted for terrible, but NOT because of the direction the team is going. They may be good owners but that doesn't forgive their atrocious handling of first Peja and now Rick Adelman. BOTH deserved much better than what they received.

I agree that the Adelman situation could've been handled better, but I don't think they owed Peja anything. First, as was already mentioned on this board, with the way things are in the NBA today it's very hard to inform the player first. The owners and GMs have to wait for the trade to officially go through before they announce anything or for that matter tell the players involved (look at how the trade almost fell through, then what do you have on your hands??) On the other hand, the media jumps on any rumor, so it's alot harder to tell the player beforehand.

Finally, Peja is the same guy who while in Greece had his agent say that he wanted to be traded. He then put up subpar numbers and seemed to lack hustle. I don't think it's worth losing any tears for poor Peja, it's what he wanted all along.

Considering that they're extremely successful billionaires, own an NBA team, and started a new casino in Vegas, I think they are winners.

Context and relevance is everything.

My point was that they are NOT winners in the NBA. And being rich doesn't necessarily define "winner" for me.

As far as Peja goes, it was entirely possible for them to make sure he heard from them before they confirmed the rumors via ESPN.

The NBA and the Kings are a business and the maloof are businessmen. I've seen firing and laying off handle much worse in many different places. I dont see how we should expect anymore from the Maloofs. Despite the fact that we may want them to be a certain type of owner.

The way the Maloofs handled the firing of Adelman and his entire team of assistants is inexcusable. They compound this by not seeming like they know who they are going to assign as the new head coach. You don't just fire a head coach like Adelman and his assistants and then not have a plan. They look like they are really winging this whole process and hoping to do good by their so called ability to find good people like Joe said in the interview. I think the Maloofs also underestimate how Artest and Bonzi to a lesser degree have to have a certain coach for them to do good and not one that is confrontational and yells at them. The Maloofs say they are looking at coaches, but I think all along they are going to give the job to Don Nelson who is already on their payroll.
