Any ****ing questions?
I'm honestly sick of this narrative. No freaking duh we're worse without Cousins. I'm tired of all the "haha, look how right I am about how bad this team is without Cousins" comments.
There isn't a team in the NBA that can absorb losing their top 10 player. Just go down the line. How many wins for the Warriors without Steph? Thunder without Durant or Westbrook? Cleveland without LeBron? Houston without Harden? Clips without CP3 or Blake? It's a star driven league people and the only team that's managed to do win without a true star in the last 15 years (although Kawhi is there now), are the Spurs.
No actually, not going to go recrunch the numbers again, but the Cuz effect, except for about 2 weeks at the end of last season when everybody had quit and we were just winging it, ha actually been just about the greatest falloff in the league except for Bron. Which of course is not a huge surprise given our wretchedness a a franchise. There's no CP3 or Westbrook to catch us when we lose the franchise here.
This is the issueThe team sucks more without Cousins.
Well, part of the problem is having a coaches (sans Malone) that always want to match lineups with the opposition. I just fail to understand why some coaches do that. Roll your best 5 out there and take your chances. While our bigs may have problems guarding smaller players, those same players have to play defense against bigger players on the other end. Karl's starting lineup tonight was a joke and played right into the Suns strengths.
When Cuz comes back, there's no excuse not to go big and play to our strengths.
And we don't know yet but we may suck with him.
I think the worst thing that could of happened was Golden State winning a title with their small ball antics. Now everybody thinks they can do it and that Draymond Green's grow on trees or something.
True that. Also, if it wasn't bad enough already, now every kid will be focusing only on shooting threes. Even several feet behind the line.
That's what this league has becomes. Drive and kick for an open three. In the playoffs last year, I saw Bogut give up an uncontested layup/dunk to pass out for a 3.
If that's where this league is headed, I'm definitely not a fan.
They have a 3-pt contest in the All-star game. I don't want to see that contest in an actual game such as the Rockets-Warriors last year when they each jacked up somewhere around 50 or 60?
Ridiculous.
No, people are talking themselves up into rather more panic than there is quite yet.
I've been saying for some time now we HAVE to turn things this year. Must. And if we don't we are both screwed, and deserve to be screwed. Pathetic if it happens. But we don't need to turn it in the first week.
one of the real downsides of constantly changing coaches is every single year almost we start off a mess and blow our early season while everybody learns the particular incompetencies of the new coaches and lineup. But with this roster and coach, the season isn't over after a week. Karl has to learn how to play them, and they have to learn how to play Karl's wackyball. It could of course all fall apart. But not 5 games in.

I hate to say this, but we've sucked with Cousins. Not blaming him, just stating facts.
That's what happens when you don't play to your players strengths or surround them will talent. Now they've surrounded Cuz with talent, but aren't playing to his strengths.
If this team had Shaquille O'Neal in his prime and was playing this same style of ball and not parking Shaq's butt in the post, they'd be sucking just the same.

Shaq would park his own butt in the post. Same with Barkley. If they didn't give him the ball he'd just go stand in the lane and get a 3 second violation. They sure as hell wouldn't spend the offseason working on shooting 3 pointers.
