The Kings are so bad.

The Kings are so bad. There is no offense to speak of. The plays seem to be that whoever gets the ball drive to the basket and if you get stopped by the other you make a desperation pass to whoever you can find. The transition defense is absolutely horrible and help defense varies between semi effective to completely non-existent. There seem to be no set plays and if there are the players have no desire to run any of them if it means they need to give up a shot opportunity. It is just disgusting to watch.

I know the Kings fans know what good basketball is from the Webber/Bibby/Christie/Vlade days. How you do you guys put up with this year after year?

I absolutely love the Kings. LOVE THEM! All through highschool, my friends called me a loser because i was freakishly a fan of watching the kings. I would miss parties, hang outs, dates, ect just too see a kings game, even if i knew they were going to lose or get blown out. And if i didnt get the televised game. I would listen to the radio and read Vf's game thread.. lol

But for once in the last 15 years I kind of feel myself slipping away from them as a fan....? I dont know why its happening. I dont want it to happen. I guess I'm just so tired putting so much energy into "cult following" a team that rarely gives me anything in return anymore. I'm not saying i'm going to leave this team and quit being a kingsfan. Because i'm not. I'm going to be a fan till the day I die.

But i just dont have the same passion for them anymore, and I want that love back. I want to feel high for a week after a Kings win again. I want to base my lifes schedual around Kings games again.. as sad as that sounds lol.. I'm never going to quit on them because I've learned in life usually the beauty ccomes after the storm. But GODDAMN this is a longass storm. Jesus, what does this team have to do to get a quality playing team out there.

Is it Petrie? Is It our players? Our Owners? Its definitely not us fans, because we've been supporting this team thru thick and thin forever. We deserve more as fans. We really do.
I hate feeling like this about the Kings.. and theres nothing i can do. Something, needs to give with this team. Something needs to change.

Bleh, theres my 3 AM rant.. sorry guys, i had to let my feelings out about this team. I want the Kings back.

The Kings are so bad, we keep getting guys who join the forum just to post about how bad they are!

I think I said this before... but I have been a kings fan since early 2000s back then it was cool to like the kings they were a hot commodity, webber bibby divac stojakovic,.. it was stojakovic and Christie who were one of my fave kings.. was a fun era. and fast forward 11 years or so.. a decade of following the kings, and people I know are surprised Im still rooting for the kings when they say "Kings suck right now, they are irrelevant why not root for this or that", they don't understand the attachment I have for the kings, its because of the kings i fell in love with basketball, their ball movement was a thing of beauty also the fans especially the echoing cowbells back then. I was alurker in this forums till i decided to make an account and converse with fellow kings fans, again on and off during seasons sometimes not posting for a long while but still followed the kings. What I am saying is, it is an Ordeal when with friends especially basketball afficionados when talking about basketball teams, given we have not been relevant for the last 5 years and we are currently rebuilding, its going to be a long process.. its a mixed bag of emotions :) I was one of those pissed at Ime udoka (missing those FTs that cost us the game against the Lakers Hawes special night too). one of those who got a warning from VF21 for being too vocal about the said 2009 draft ;) I still am bitter about that draft but i hope tyreke proves us wrong.

along with the Mussellman DUI, reggie theus and kenny natt experience on to the zany adventures of westphal , been following the kings miserably hoping for the team to get better, and each year given a tease of hope by rookies FA and trades. so i guess Im not the only one asking, damn when will we be good again or how long will this end, I for one am Happy we are talking basketball again, and the jersey still says SACRAMENTO. and at the same time we might not be the next big thing this year or next year.. we may be bad but Im pretty sure the older kingsfans here will tell us to endure, or we werent there during the true dark ages of the kings... Good or bad, even if I'm one of the few following the kings doesnt matter they are still OUR kings. :D

Lol! Honestly, I have turned into that guy this year. Only 10 games in and I am already so bitter. For some reason this year is especially hard to stomach, and this is coming from someone who has watched damn near every game since they arrived in Sac.

We deserve better. ____ the Maloofs and their broke ___. Just swallow your pride already and admit your terrible at running any sort of business.

Burkle please!

The Kings aren't "so bad" as the poster states, yesterday they played so bad and they have played bad in the majority of their games. I don't know how I put up with it but I have been doing so, voluntarially, for 27 years and buying tickets at the same time. Whio would believe it. Just come on line anytime and you'll get pumped up. Go Kings!!!!

Its easy to miss the signs of something stirring beneath the muck, but as long as Reke and Cousins appear to buy in and continue to play well, sooner or later the support personnel will sort themselves out. The clarification on who the main guns are may also help Petrie do a better job getting the right guys around them by switchign from talent acquistion to targeted acquisition.

I just don't think Reke is ever going to be "the guy" on a team that has any chance of competing for a championship.

If he's not maybe Cousins will. Those guys and Thornton are the guys that matter on this team going forward. If they end up being shy of a championship team it will leave us no different from 29 other teams in the league. But those are the guys you have to maximize for either future playoff runs or trades. Then you fit the rest of the roster around them.

Kings fans, for the foreseeable future at least, need to forget about championships. If that's the expectation, you're setting yourself up for inevitable disappointment. A competitive team that plays watchable basketball and makes a run at the playoffs is a more attainable goal, but right now, even that seems like a pipe dream.

I never thought I'd be envious of the Cleveland Cavs (post Lebron) or even the Minnesota ****ing Timberwolves but the bottom line is they are both more exciting to watch, more competitive, and have a higher upside than we do. SAD.

He and Cousins have a better chance at achieving just that, than about 95% of the NBA. That's why you remain patient. Most guys who are center pieces of championship squads were not near that level at age 21 or 22.

By your definition, there's only 5, maybe 10 guys tops, who are "the guy" on a contender each year. I happen to think Cousins has a better chance to be the foundation of a championship level team. But every time someone says something like this, that Reke our Cousins can't be "the guy" or one of the top option on a contender, someone else can run off a list of 22 yr olds who weren't near the players they ended up being, and later on were the cornerstones for contending teams.

Everyone said MJ wouldn't, couldn't win in his early to mid 20's. Magic, got the nickname Tragic Johnson at around the same age as Reke, because he couldn't shoot. By this rule of thumb, you would have given up on Nash, Stockton and Dirk, to name a few, as they weren't near developed at age 22. Do people forget Reke should be a senior in college right now? Do you normally walk around and tell college seniors their development is over, and tell them what their career ceilings will be based on who they are and what they've accomplished before graduation?

The Kings are so bad, they need a steak tied around their neck to get dogs to play with them!

The Kings are so bad, all they know is rejection. Their yo-yo? It never came back!

lets be honest if we carry on to suck all season we will get a really good draft pick ;) someone who can pass and shoot aswell as D

Not even remotely remotely on Cleveland. Are you kidding me?

Minny...perhaps. Perhaps not. They have Love. Rubio looks real as a facilitator. Then they have a whole bunch of question marks. Their advantage is at coach.

I feel somewhat the same as optimusrhyme.

Honestly, I think a big part of the problem is the ownership. They seem to have no money left to spend on doing much with the Kings. Heck, the family essentially no longer have their two real businesses, the beer distributorship in NM and the Palms.

We may be a small market, but I'd bet we have the poorest owners in the league, too. Bad combination. It'll be interesting to see if they can commit anything to a new arena. I'm more worried about keepiong the Kings in Sacramento right now, than how good/bad the team is.

Still we do have some good young players. And I'll always be a Kings fan. :D

Just an observation here, not just based on this thread, but this topic in general. I often see complaints about this team met with responses like... be patient, rebuilding takes time, etc. etc. I can't speak for everyone but when I complain about this team it isn't because they're not in the playoffs, not contenders, etc. It's because for the last four seasons they've shown essentially NO GROWTH whatsoever. It's the same dreadful basketball year after year after year with no signs of any improvement. It's hard to be optimistic and patient when things have been in a state of total stagnation for years. You can't even say they're making baby steps (if anything, they've regressed this year), that's what makes it so hard to take. At this rate I'm really starting to fear that the team will still suck when Evans and Cousins are free agents and they'll be lost to greener pastures. The window is closing and if something doesn't change soon, it's going to be back to square one in a few years.

The tough part is, I don’t even know who to blame. Evans and Cousins need a better supporting cast but it’s simply not getting done. Hard to blame Petrie if the Maloofs have him on a shoe string budget. Hard to blame the Maloofs when they made some good offers this year. Hard to blame the coaches given what they have to work with. And hard to blame the players because they didn’t build the team.

whould you still support the team if they were the A-royals if not who whould you support
I don't know yet, whether I could support the A-Royals. If they moved anywhere but somewhere else in California, I probably could. Moving to SoCal is like kryptonite to me. If not the Kings, then no one, for me, though.
