The Good News Happy Go Lucky Thread

Don't Make Me Use The Bat
Too much doom and gloom around here, so thought I would start a good news thread! Yay! :D :

1) we are 14-21 today. Which means that we can still match our franchise best 61-21 mark from '02 by going 47-0 from here on out to finsih the season! Woot!

2) That 14-21 mark has us with the 9th worst record in the NBA right now. But with 6 straight losses we are charging hard! If we lose our next one, and the Blazers or Hornets win one more, we will jump from 9th to 7th!!

3) We are finally healthy! Relatively. After years of quietly suffering injury after injury as we stormed the league, we may now suck, but we are at least healthy while we do so! Our Top 7 players have missed 30 combined games so far. Compare that to our previous campaigns when rarely would one of our major pieces not miss 30 games all by himself, and we obviously have much to be thankful for. No more Bonzi (missed 30 last year), Bobby (missed 57 the year before that) Webb (missed 59 the year before that) , Bibby (27) Bobby (26), Pollard (59) from the year before that, Webber (28) from the year before that... Nope, we may lose, but we lose as a team baby!

4) And for all of you worried about us losing our sense of history and identity, I throw elderberries in your general direction! KT is leading the Kings in rebounding at a smidgeon under 7.2 (he's also benched so this number will likely plummet). Which ties in nicely to our sucktastic (borrowed phrase) 1992-93 team which Lionel Simmons led with 7.2 rebs a game. See? History! Continuity! That 92-93 team did have better support rebounders though in the mighty Wayman Tisdale (6.6) and Anthony Bonner (6.5). We have only Ron, at 6.4 and plummeting since he decided that rebounding was too hard and hurt his back.

5) We are NOT last in the NBA in shotblocking! Another woot! And here all of you doom and gloom types go on and on about needing inside defensive presence. Pffft! Psssaw! However you make that noise! We in fact are not even the SECOND worst. There are fully TWO teams in the league who are more pathetic than we are inside...New Jersey (3.16) and Milwaulkee (2.80). We are comparatively monsters. So no more whining! This is a happy thread, remember? :p

WE'RE NUMBER (TWENTY-) ONE!

I have good news, too!

When I left here Saturday morning to head to Sacramento for a delayed family Christmas, my pipes were totally frozen. I fully expected to come home to a house with no running water. I was pleasantly surprised... the pipes had been thawed out by a kind neighbor.

;)

Way to go neighbor!:) Glad you came home to running water, VF, I remember having PLENTY of frozen pipes from when I lived in New England.:D

And I bet everyone in LA is laughing their azzes off at us right now:(

I think most are more concerned about getting Lamar and Kwame back and how we're going to do on the 8 game roadtrip coming up.
The obsession seems to be mostly one-sided in this "relationship".;)

Yippy! still more reason to hate the Lakers.

Yeah, kinda figured that much...actually...probably easier to think about yourself and the problems at hand than the ones of your title-less foes that have obsessions with in-state rivalries to stoke the ole' fires as a consolation.:D Kinda sad, I know. Oh well...at least my Canucks are in the hunt again.(also title-less, I may add:D ) Whoa is me! LOL

I'm a Vikings fan...I feel your pain. :)

5 Most important reasons to be happy

1. Because we can.
2. We are edging closer to getting Oden.
3. Being sad is a bummer.
4. I have had a cold for 6 days, but relief is at hand.
5. We have KingsFans.com to commiserate with others.

Place these in any order you please. Mine are in no special order. :D

5 Reasons not to be happy

Because we can
The Kings are probably gone in the near future
Artest will do something really stupid this month
Oden's not as good as advertised
Ok, I can't think of number 5, but I'm still bummed

Well.....I think good fans stick with their teams through the good and the bad - much like a marriage. Bail on the team now and you wont' enjoy the good times as much when they happen.

Look people, i used to root for Duane Causwell, Wayman Tisdale, Spud Webb, Derek Smith, etc, etc, etc. my heart ached when Brian Grant left. The fact that i stuck with them all those years made it so much more enjoyable once we hit the good times.

It may be a while away, but I for one will continue to be a good, supportive fan. I will continue to make it out to Arco a couple of times per year and will continue to watch the games.

Now there's some good news -- I bet this thread has added at least a few cents to the value of those cards I waited in line so long to get Lionel Simmons to sign.

We wanted tanking, and we're getting it. The team is doing what it takes to keep the fans happy, what more could one ask for? Of our next 5 games, 3 are on the road, and 4 are against teams with better records than us. I can practically smell 23rd place already. Keep it up, guys! You're doing a great job!!!

Maybe CWebb will feel energized enough in Detroit to dunk on somebody like he did occasionally in the old days -- can we put KT in?

Lastly, Justin Williams doesn't seem likely to singlehandedly ruin our lottery chances this year, but unless he's too discouraged to sign with us this summer, it's possible that he could be around for a while, which would be great. If we don't hang on to him, I think there will be hundreds of hens ooodling around Arco like a scene from The Birds, so either way there will be at least some little bit of hope and excitement in our futures.

last place baby!

lets get last in the west! HOLLA!

we want oden!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

is that happy enough :D i'm so over being upset about losing, this feels fun to just cheer win or lose. WOOOO (don't) GO KINGS!

my 5 reasons for happiness

I'm alive and I'm breathing on my own.
I have a 2 yr old neice.
We still have a team in Sac.
It's not TDOS.
We should have a very high draft pick.

those are in order. :p

I'm happy because I'm pretending we're in the Eastern Conference. We'd be a #4 seed or something like that over there!

I'm also happy that the Lakers aren't in first place, Chris Webber is back home and smiling again, there's still plenty of time to turn the season around, and Justin Williams is getting playing time.

one more. You don't have to be dead last to get Oden. its called the lottery for a reason. Our luck we get the worst record have the highest % to get the 1st pick and end up getting 12th.

That's not how it works. There's a lottery for the first three picks, and after that it goes by record. If the Kings had the worst record in the league they would at worst pick 4th, and even that would be seriously bizarre bad luck.
