The NBA REALLY needs to put a bigger emphasis on this event next year...As in 6 contestants, and 3 rounds. Drop the lame "Rising Stars" gimmick as well. Josh Smith, Jason Richardon, Vince, Kobe (I know some wouldn't accept, but whatever). That would be awesome. This year I thought was pretty good (Except for Birdman who looked like he had no idea what he was doing.)

Josh Smith amazed me. Simple as that. Attempted free throw line leap. His Dominique dunk. Over K-Mart. The last one. Awesome. I see many more wins for this young man.

A bunch of highlights for me....I hope for a bigger dunk contest next year.

This was crazy. Im watching it right now since it was provided by one of the members here. Josh Smith was crazy but I did like JR's first dunk. Best was over KMart.

I am a big fan of the 360 windmill that he did last, mostly because it was almost two separate dunks in one. He rotated, then stopped rotating and then threw in a windmill with his left hand.

All in all not a bad dunk contest, except for Birdman, who should be banned for life.

Steve Nash gets a 10.

This once again goes to prove that Amare can't do much without the help of Nash. Therefore, I say we vote Steve Nash as runner up for the Dunk Contest. Agreed?

diddo. If amare won then they'd have to give nash the trophy or at least half of it because without nash amare would have been out in the first round.

I feel bad for chris anderson, he was much better last year. Poor guy just tried too hard.

though i enjoyed all of JSmiths dunks...i voted for the one over KMart just because...that is one that you almost HAVE to throw done on your first attempt (for a bunch of obvious reasons)

JR Smiths first dunk was pretty nasty...i love seeing it slow-mo...it looked like he was doing "the snake" only with the emphasis behind his back instead of in front...if he did it on first try it would have impressed me even more...he prolly shouldn't of done it first however

Chris Andersen....NEXT

Amare actually did a much better job than i expected (thanks in large part to Mr. Nash)...the header alley-oop dunk was pretty darn creative if you ask me...something that people have never seen before...and in all actuallity prolly was the most creative dunk out of all the dunks...but again if he would have did that dunk maybe last and got it on his first attempt we might of been looking at Amare as the winner...::shrugs:: maybe

but i agree with you SLAB in that they the NBA really needs to hype this thing up again...more than 4 contestants...at least 3 rounds...and tighter rules...to prevent contestants like Chris Andersen from taking all day and night

and on a slightly random note: i think the 3pt contest needs to go back to 3 rounds as well..i think it would make it more exciting...and over the past couple of years TO ME the 3pt contest had been my favorite event on ALL STAR SATURDAY NIGHT...but this year i was rather dissappointed..i really don't know why....maybe it was cuz of the low number of 3s or maybe it was cuz Ray didn't even make it into the finals or maybe cuz Kyle Korver didn't win (cuz i wanted him too) and whats worse maybe cuz QRich did win...ugh....i love the shooting stars event....but i think they should make each team go throught that shooting course TWICE not just once...i think it would get more people much more excited about this event...IMO

My list for a damn good dunk contest. 8 players, 1 preliminary round, 3 real rounds for 6 players.

1. Mo Evans, of course
2. Ben Gordon
3. Josh Smith
4. Travis Outlaw
5. LBJ
6. Dwayne Wade
7. Gerald Wallace
8. Sebastian Telfair

We gotta get those damn near 7 footers out of the contest. As good as Amare/Nash was its just not exciting when we have guys over 6'9" in the contest. Dont we have some point guards who want to get in there and do their damn thing?

Telfair is a dunker!?

I never would have thunk it!
Yeah, Ben Gordon isn't shorter than Mike Bibby. He's listed at 6'3" but he's about 6'2". Bibby is listed at 6'1" but is maybe 5'11" at the tallest. I know because I used to work at Florin mall and he came in with his entourage a couple of times. Gordon probably was hunching when he was standing next to Bib. Kinda how Shaq makes Vlade look like he's 6'10" because of posture.

Yeah Telfair and Gordon can both dunk. Gordon has mad hops that I he displayed on a daily basis in college, Telfair as well (in high school). But since when has the NBA only put players in the contest who dunk during games? Spud Webb anyone? Nobody even knew he could do it until he joined (and won) the slam dunk contest in '86. The boy has mad skills. And what about Mahoumad Abdul-Rauf and Darrell Armstrong in 96. Granted they were horrible, they were still invited despite not finishing any dunks during regular season play.

My point is its guys like this who make the dunk contest exciting. Guys who don't get regular playing time or don't have ample opportunity to show off their dunking prowess.

^^Which one of the 85 attempts did you want to vote for???:D
ROFLMAO!!!! Okay, wait til I stop laughing so I can talk about my vote.

1. Josh Smith...over Kmart

2. JR Smith...wrap around behind the back

3. Josh Smith...his 360 (hang time was unbelievable)

Although I was very entertained by Amare's dunks because they were very creative, they were too much about Nash and not enough about the dunk itself.

All in all....I very much enjoyed this year's dunk contest. However, 3rd time is a charm.....you don't make it by the 3rd try then go and sit down. Chris, that display was just sad. It was definitely not your night.

ok, ok...good starting list...but if you're gonna include LeBron, why not include previous champs, like Vinsanity and Jason Richardson....so for me, it would be:
1. Mo Evans
2. LeBron
3. Gerald Wallace
4. J Richardson
5. Half Man Half Amazing
6. Josh Smith
7. Dwayne Wade
8. Kobe Bryant (sadly...but he is an amazing dunker)
8.5 Desmond Mason

Another question is who you would pick if you could take any player in NBA history...
to me it would be
1. MJ
2. Dr. J
3. Dominque Wilkins
4. Spud Webb
5. Dee Brown
6. Chocolate Thunder
7. Vinsanity
8. Jason Richardson
