The difference.

To me, the difference between last night's game and the others was our initial set-up.

We made a concerted effort to establish the post. From there, the Suns threw double and triple teams. Which ultimately led to Bibby/Peja getting wide open shots.

I'll just let everyone guess what WIDE-OPEN shots do for a shooting slump and for confidence levels ....

Anyhow, we worked the post and we stayed in this game.

I know I am pro-Shareef, to a fault, but to me this is just good basketball. You work inside and then the outside comes. When the outside comes, you bring it back inside.

To me - the post game is like a running game in football. It tires the other team out. It sets up the deep ball. It's slow, steady and methodical. It's usually effective.

I can say, from my vantage point, this game was won because we fed the trench. Sure, other things helped - Peja's light's out 3rd QTR, Miller's great passing .... but, the win started and ended in the post.

Bravo to RA and the rest of the team. I was really worried we were going to try to run with the Suns.

Reef has owned Ben Wallace throughout his career. He's had a bad game, here or there, but overall he's owned Ben.

Bonzi posting up wouldn't draw Ben or Rasheed, unless it is on a double.

Rasheed/Ben are going to be on Miller/Reef.

My fear for the game is that they put Rasheed on Reef. Rasheed has Reef's number.

The Kings have a new Identity..It's the low post. I think this will be thier new way of thinking since we have now 3 very good low post players in Shariff, Bonzi and Corliss. The ol' inside out game. Now we just have play more aggressive D and this team we cause problems for any team out there.

yep. I was 8th row center at the game last night. It was a thing of beauty and this was the most fun I have probably ever had at a game in enemy territory.

Kurt Thomas' grumpy frustrated look all night only added to my enjoyment.

Quite, which actualy has me raising a little ? over Thomas's aging head. Looked distinctly out of synch and slow all night.

Not the same thing as the Wallace boys though. Especially not backed up by McDyess, Davis, and now even Darko emerging. So much length and stength there with shotblockers all over the place. And probably more importantly -- lots of help defense (at least before Flip arrived). You look up and down that lineup and Bonzi is the only one who seems to have a good matchup (his strength on Rip's skinniness). Maybe Brad can hit afew jumpers, but that depends on whether he's guarded by Ben or the more mobile Sheed.

P.S. As an aside, when we beat Phoenix in that early season showdown last season we did it in similar fashion -- the story that night was Webb pounding Shawn Marion down in the post until they said uncle. The Suns tried to fix that issue by getting Thomas so that Amare would be the PF, but they're right back to too-smallhood until at least the All-Star break.

Prince really chewed Peja up last year, so that may be one of those nightmare matchups for him ala Bowen.

Mike's got to be able to handle the pressure the Pistons will throw at him from time to time.

Aside from that, he was also coming off one of his 3-4 injuries, and getting into chemistry with the new guys. Though the road game the team only did well in the 2nd and 4th qtrs, with Bibby/Corliss only playing well on the game.

The next one is a good test. I look forward to seeing how the Kings handle it. I think having to face such different teams back to back is a good challenge, hopefully they can use this as a chance to evolve the new style a little more.

Someone claimed that SAR is going to be better fit for kings then CWeb. I remember Web of old destroyed Ben in one game (40+ points of something like that). Let's see what SAR can do. To make a point he dosn't have to score as much. It is enough if he hit around 50% of 10-15 shots, have 5+ assists and we win. I am afraid all these goals are hard to achieve at the moment.

Reef had 50, 12 and 5.

That's an impressive stat line.

Since then, he's owned Ben pretty consistantly.

Of course - they didn't have Rasheed Wallace patrolling the paint. That'll make it VERY difficult to shoot 50%.
