The Celebrate the '22-'23 Kings Season Thread

An obviously disappointing end to a great season for us.
  • COMPLETE change in team culture in one offseason
  • First playoff berth in 17 years
  • Made the 3 seed in the west
  • (Unanimous) Coach of the Year
  • Clutch Player of the Year
  • Two all-stars
  • Best offense in the NBA in just about forever
  • Both all-stars playing with broken hands in the series
  • Pushed the defending champs to game 7 and led at the half
  • Started the BEAM and DPOG celebrations
  • Grabbed the attention of the entire NBA despite only two nationally televised games (IIRC)
  • Front office and coaches are aligned for several more years
  • Most of our players are still young and under contract
Can't wait to see what next year holds after Monte gets cooking and the coaching staff isn't starting from scratch. Go Kings, and light the beam!

Edit:
  • The contract Coach Brown had everyone sign was a brilliant approach.
  • Vivek stayed in his lane and let everyone do their thing!
  • Keegan setting rookie 3 point record.

Yeah, I was also thinking about Christine/VF21 all day today. Nobody would have loved watching this game more, win or lose. It wasn't our day today but the future is bright!

This is probably also the right place to say thanks to all of Kingsfans.com too! It's been a tough couple of years for all sorts of reasons and there were more than a few times over this long stretch of 16 years where I didn't even want to think about the Kings anymore. I kept coming back here to this board though because it feels like home. It doesn't feel right that she's not here to celebrate this moment with us. I think more than even wanting this losing streak to end for myself I wanted it to end for her and her unimpeachable optimism.

yeah I spent much of the season thinking I wish VF were here. We often went at it but no one deserved this season more than her. Let’s hope we never go through another run that it takes a VF type person to stay positive.

This season was truly my most enjoyable as a basketball and Kings fan. I really didn't get to enjoy much of the first wave as I was still just a kid and getting into basketball at the time. Basically around the time the drought started was when I really sank my teeth into being a basketball guy.

Seeing this offense explode as one of the best regular season of all-time, how unselfish they play lead by a slick passing elite big man in Domas, seeing Fox ascend from "Is he the worst contract in the NBA?" to superstardom, watching Brown embrace Sac from day 1 and turn the culture of this team around. I loved every second of this season and I probably watched more Kings games this year than I have in the last few years combined if I'm being honest.

I think the lead-up to the playoffs was one of my favorite parts of the year. Just getting to revel in the fact that SO many of us grew up with this team, stuck with them through one of the biggest droughts in pro sports history and finally getting to see that reward game 1 at Golden Center. It honestly was an interesting reflection point as I've lived a damn good chunk of my life between playoff appearances... and I really enjoyed kind of thinking about some of those memories in the last 16 years.

Cheers yall. Was a hell of a season and was a real kick for this board to be really popping again and getting to share the experience with a bunch of random people on the internet who all take an interest in a bunch of dudes, playing a game, who wear the same laundry. Let's do it all again next year.

Thank you to everyone from the coaches to players to the staff. Everyone made this year's ride a magical one. While I hope the ride could've lasted a bit longer, it doesn't diminish the excitement we have for next year.

Light the beam. The beam shines eternal!

Kings overwhelmingly exceeded expectations. In one year, they have accomplished more than they needed. Making the Playoffs would have been suffice, but 3rd seed? Taking the Champs to game 7. Getting Fox and Sabonis the All-Star and getting Clutch Player of the Game Award and Brown getting Coach of the Year. And how tightly knit group the players are in the locker room with some that never been here before? Making headlines in the country and breaking viewers record on ABC? The raucous crowd noises w/ the Keegan Murray and Light the Beam chant? That's too much.

This has been an unbelievable year as a diehard Kings fan for ever. Looking back I feel compelled to just mention and thank how hard Mike T formed the Crown Downtown, the heart and soul of all us with Mayor Johnson to fight with everything to keep our Kings here in Sacramento , get G1C built, as our city so deserved. JOB WELL DONE. I know there was several people working within the Crown Downtown, so many thanks to all of you. We never gave up.

To Coach Brown and his staff thank you. As Coach of The Year all the years waiting patiently for someone who believes in his team, our city, hard work, is unbelievable. My heart is just over flowing with so many emotions.

To you King players? Where do I begin? I could make a list but we all know the huge accomplishments (that have been mentioned in several boards already) you’ve done as our team, The Kings. You should be proud as ~we are Sacramento Proud
