The Brad Miller Rumor?

#1
First off...I'm not claiming this is valid in anyway, but, I have heard about it in a few places.

But, I've heard that Mark Montieth, who once was the Pacers beatwriter (and still a columnist for Indy Star (Could be the other Indy paper)), was reporting that the Pacers have a pretty large interest in getting Brad back if possible.

No names were thrown out or anything, and most likely it's just his view on things...but he does have some connections.

Thoughts?

If it'd be for Foster and someone else with some value, I'd be all over it. I love Foster's game.

I'll take Foster's low 60-70 games (based on the average of 68 GP his last 3 seasons) for what he significantly brings in rebounding, defense, and hustling on both ends. Not a shotblocker, but has good size, length and is an interior presence.

Musselman would love Foster.

I'll take a good defensive big man over Brad's uncertainities and glaring lackings, aside from offense. I'm also not that strong on "waiting and seeing" if Brad returns to being like the 03-04 and before Brad.

I knew Brad was being shopped by the Kings it was pretty obvious it was gonna happen especially Brad's disappointing post-season performance.

if we can get Foster and Jackson i'd do it.

Oh yeah lets trade an all star C who is still happens to be one of the best in the league at his position for a one dimentional role player who is injury prone. And while we are at it, lets bring another nutjob and pair him with Artest. Oh and while we are at it, lets change our name to Indiana Pacers

In case you didn't realise, the trick of the trade is to actually improve the team (improve the talent) not the other way around

Why would we want any of their guys? If we trade Brad it BETTER be for a shotblocker, I mean god Petrie is not freaking Isiah Thomas. No way in hell you trade Brad for their trash.

Forget Foster. I would trade Brad for anyone of the following centers:

Marcus Camby
Ben Wallace
Tyson Chandler
Samuel Dalembert
Alonzo Mourning

I agree with not trading Brad for Foster but if its for a defensive center who does the things we need at the center position, then i'm all for trading Brad.

I can see Brad's numbers go really down if we step away from the princeton offense and rely on quickness and more body movement. Brad will lack both of those because he's basically limited to a half-court game.

Maybe we can trade Brad to the Warriors for Troy Murphy. Murphy has a better jumper than Brad and can also rebound better than Brad. He's also pretty mobile. He's not too bad on defense either. He can work around the low post and put backs.

Zo? Zo will undoubtedly retire after this season. Not only that, Zo is specifically a 20 minute per game guy. He comes in there instant energy, expends it, then sits on the bench. He can't be a consistent starter.

Well that would be a faster way to get rid of Brad's contract right. C'mon admit it, this team is not going anywhere past the first round anyways. Might as well get rid of Brad's fat contract and build the team around the young athletic guns.

Oh and Zo can still play as a starter. He avg around 11 pts 7-8 rebounds, and 2-3 blocks while Shaq was injured last season. Not only that but he will be a good team player since he's won the championship and has experience.

His kidney makes it hard for him to consistently play 30+ minutes. It doesn't make sense to do that.

People talking like this literally makes me sick.

I don't think Brad's going anywhere. In fact I think we're going to see something close to the Brad of 03-04. The reason we got him was for the way he played that season, then he settled into Adleman's offense that allowed him to hang out on the perimeter. Well guess what? Brad's been working all summer and there's a new sheriff in town that isn't going to let Brad be a softie.

There was nothing about Foster, Jackson, or any Pacer players.

Nothing was said about any players, other then Brad being coveted by the Pacers.

Hell, they still have their Trade Exception as well...don't forget about that.

He is in better shape. But, how effective and consistent will he be as that type of Brad, 3 seasons later with some significant hits to his body along the way...

I sure hope that if he's staying, Brad toughens up for good, and shows little to no inconsistency in the effort area.

If not, the guy is gonna be outta Sacramento in 2007. I think the ship is pretty close to sailing away on Brad Miller.

Indy used their trade exception on harrington. there's no way they could get a guy making 8 mill+ for just a draft pick (and they got edwards too)
