The best possible NBA final?

And I'm well aware there are lots of different ways to define "best." So make your vote and, if necessary, post your definition of the term and why you voted the way you did.

The best possible Finals, from a basketball standpoint, would be Pistons/Lakers. The best Finals, in terms of star power, would be Lakers/Celtics. The best Finals storyline-wise (at least, to my point of view) would be Celtics/Spurs: three star players all trying to win their first championship, having to go through the defending champions, flashbacks to the 1997 draft, Big 3 versus Big 3, etc...
So of course I voted for Pistons/Spurs.

This was tough as I have no real attachment to any of the teams out there, in fact, I down right loathe two of them. I guess Lakers v. Celtics would be the best finals for me so long as the Lakers get pounded.
If the Celtics would win? Lakers-Celtics.
If the Celtics would lose? Spurs-Celtics.
I don't like the Spurs much at all, but I do NOT want the Lakers to win another ring. I'd rather see the Spurs win another than the Lakers. So I guess I can't answer your poll without the above qualifiers built in.

Agreed, Celtics losing to the Spurs would be best. I say “blah” to stacking talent in the big cities for ratings (money). History is repeating itself. Meanwhile all the small markets are getting high draft picks in hopes of contending for the future and the illusion of possibly winning a championship down the road, but never quite making it to that goal. And now Chicago again will enter the fray, with their improbable #1 pick. Sheez. San Antonio deserves major kudos for being able to “beat the system”.

I want the Pistons to win it all, mainly because they are the only team without superstars. They play great team basketball and I would rather watch a great team play team basketball any day over one with a dominating superstar. You never know what is coming next. And since I do not want the lakers in the finals even as losers, I picked Pistons/Spurs. I know boring, only because each team executes perfectly. I would love to see a true team playing team win twice. It would add motivation for GM's to build that type of team.

This remains a load of hooey, unless the NBA went on vacation with its sneaky plan to force LeBron to...Cleveland? Dwight to...Orlando? Shaq to Orlando. Duncan to San Antonio. Robinson to San Antonio. People cry every single time a big market city gets (apparently) lucky in the lottery, and ignore the dozens of times they do not while the small market teams get the studs. Been PLENTY of chances for New York and Chicago to be fed young superstars by a corrupt league. Oddly those guys are all off playing in some of the smallest cities in the league. Boston itself ended up with its current team precisely because it got screwed in the draft and decided to bail out with Ray Allen. Then traded a whole stack of its other non-top picks to get Garnett. L.A. is led by a #13 pick and two guys they traded for. Their young injured center was a #10 pick. Some draft conspiracy.
But these sorts of logical arguments always bounce off of a good conspiracy theory. All that takes is conviction. Facts are just a distraction.

I voted on best for me personally.Pistons/Spurs, becasue I dislike either of them less than the Lakers or Celtics.

To be honest, Detroit's the only remaining team I actually like and I never want to see the Lakers in the finals ever again.

As an aside, Lakers/Celts were the easy choice here. As was the necessary winner of such a matchup.

There's a 4-number combination of balls 1-13 that have to be drawn for a Chicago (or a Port) to win the top pick. That's pretty hard to scam. I think most fans are under the impression that they're still picking envelopes out of a drum.
PS: A report said that the first three numbers selected corresponded to one of the combinations assigned to Portland. Just imagine if the 4th ball was a match, we'd never hear the end.

Spurs Celtics. The Celtics had all the hype all year, have the "big 3" and need to go through the defending champs and their "big 3." I know there is a lot of nostalgia involved with lakers celtics but the last thing I want is the lakers winning another ring. I dont really have much hatred for the spurs so im pulling for them.

As much as I like to see a Lakers vs. Celtics finals, I think the Pistons in 6. Lakers vs. Pistons is not a bad draw..., not like Lakers vs. Celtics... but should be better than Spurs vs. Cavs.
