Look, I think the worst thing that can happen to Kings is to lose their pick and for NO to jump into top 3. Both mathematically possible.
While you want to be able to pick as early as possible in the draft, I think it is imperative that these youngsters playing now learn to compete and win a few games as a reward for that never give up attitude that they are developing. The only way you are ever going to change a losing culture is to firstly learn how to compete every single minute you are on the floor regardless of whether you are down 30 or up 30. Then once you learn how to compete, you start learning how to win.
I think coach Joerger has been doing a phenomenal job of developing this culture. That is probably not going to get the tanking contingent a great deal of comfort because in April teams are either getting ready for the play offs and managing their players or are tanking while the Kings are developing the culture of playing hard all the time which will lead to wins. These sort of wins will not be there in January or February.
I am very happy with what coach has been preaching and how he has been developing the Kings. Unfortunately, this is the Kings we are talking about so watch him get fired next year or the year after once Vivek loses patience and Hinkie is on board who is all about tanking and being really crap. That philosophy does not align all too well with Joerger and his coaching staff who are about competing and winning and letting the rest of the chips fall where they fall.
That is why is Vivek is looking to bring in someone above Vlade, I hope that it is not Hinkie because IMHO, that will spell the end of coach Joerger in Sacramento. If he really wants to bring in someone, I hope its someone like Jason Levin (sp???) who has history with Joerger in Memphis (I think he hired him to be a coach in Memphis). That way Kings can salvage something positive out of this circus.
