Leo De Vries went 2-for-2 with a stolen base in his spring training debut as a 19 year old. Thank you Padres.

If DeVries sticks, do they move Wilson to 2b? Seems feasible. Offensively, the A’s are becoming downright scary.

They just traded for McNeil from the Mets so that’s probably not going to happen in the short-term. In the long-term, I think the ideal situation would potentially see De Vries become a capable third baseman since that’s like the one spot on the A’s infield organizational depth chart that that isn’t loaded with guys who look like future stars or high profile prospects given that Other Max Muncy has never really looked good in the big leagues.

De Vries making a strong case for starting the season in the big leagues lol

the front office probably doesn’t want to start the kid’s clock that early but if Fisher is actually serious about spending on the team now that his dream stadium in Vegas is “in sight” then it shouldn’t matter, right?

Never been more convinced De Vries is going to be a superstar. Kid is already crushing major league pitching as a 19 year old.

McNeil is an average starter, he's only there so they aren't forced to keep playing Gelof if he continues to struggle. And I don't think the A's have given up on Zack Gelof yet. In the first 270 AB of his big league career (the second half of the 2023 season) Gelof had an .840 OPS with 14 HR and 14 SB in only 69 games. He's been either terrible or injured ever since, but he's only 26. Maybe this is the year he gets healthy and bounces back?

They do have a unique problem with De Vries and Wilson since both bats deserve to be in the lineup and neither player has played so much as one inning at 3B in the minor leagues. De Vries played 5 games at 2B as a 17 year old in the Arizona Fall League two years ago and Wilson played 3B his entire freshman season in college 5 years ago. I think Wilson moving to 3B seems like the most likely outcome if De Vries plays MLB games this season. One of the infielders may eventually replace Rooker at DH.

Those “why did the A’s trade Mason Miller for the third best prospect in baseball?” takes looking worse and worse with each De Vries at bat.

As long as Fisher doesn’t Fisher, the A’s have the chance to have a generational infield for the next decade.

Mason Miller is a dominant reliever. With that out of the way, at this point, Leo De Vries looks like a future superstar (that future potentially being this season) and the Padres absolutely ****ed over their future by trading him for a reliever.

This post brought to you by him hitting a triple against the Dodgers.

Bangaliers is of course the one guy the A’s don’t have locked up long term so of course he starts the year off with a multi-homer game
