Thank you, Ty Corbin!

It's a thank you thread... Not a bash the guy thread. You could have kept it at "good luck!" You should know that we don't bash in these threads.

Thanks Tyrone! Good luck in the future!

There was some attempt to distinguish the decent from the bad, but let me ask this question:

Let's say a coach, we can say Karl, but just anybody, were to arrive here in town, take over the team for the last 30 games. Let's say he went 5-25 in those 30 games, and repeatedly clashed with Boogie so badly that at the end of the season Boogie immediately demanded a trade. Then he got fired.

If that was this anonymous coach's Kings resume, would we still give him a "thank you" thread? And if so, for what? Is there any limit to the catastrophe somebody can bring upon us and still get thanked?

I forget, did we have a thank you thread for the maloofs?

Doesn't matter.. This is a "thank you thread". There were a few threads where I wanted to bash outgoing players but didn't do it because that (what I thought) was kind of an unwritten rule here? Ahh well.. Bash away I guess?

No I think it does matter.

Almost every player has put in work and done SOMETHING positive, even if I didn't like them. IT averaged 20ppg. So did MT at one point. Even a scrubbie like DWill had a few good games, gave us some exciting dunks. But my question was legit. As was the qualification in my first post. Since I'm pissed at his entire tenure it comes begrudgingly, but I know beneath the crap of his tenure Corbin has been known as a class guy. So I can begrudgingly say good luck in the future and not be muttering hoping his house burns down or some such. But WHAT are we thanking him for? His time as coach was one of the great unmitigated disasters in Sacto Kings history. Its like thanking the Maloofs the summer after firing Adelman or something. I didn't intend to get into long explanations, but there was a clear theory to exactly how far I would go in "thanking" Corbin.

That is why I say "bash away" because it's obvious you're not going to follow the unwritten rule of a thank you thread. Regardless to how you feel about a guy this wasn't the thread to post it in. If you can't just say thanks, then say nothing at all? There are many other threads to bash Corbin in.

I would like to point out that the very first post by the OP makes the point that "sure he couldn't coach worth crap but..."

Me sucking it up to wish him well in the future is about as far as any sane Kings fan could have taken it.

Thanks Ty for being the second worst coach in Kings history. Even among the 5 coaches in Sacramento Kings history with winning % under .300, you still stood out as being the coach to do the least with the most talent. Kenny Natt's best player was Kevin Martin, and he missed 31 games. You had the best big man in the NBA, and couldn't win more than 1 out of every 4 games.

I don't know how you did it, but thank you for the glimpse at rock bottom.

Thanks for the wasted season. Thanks for the memories of players hanging their heads, yelling at each other on the court, the destroyed locker room, the devastated fan base, the angry blogs. Thanks for the regression of almost every King's player. Thanks for making Demarcus inefficient again, a turnover machine. Thanks for the collateral damage of Demarcus' name being dragged through the mud again, the negative headlines.

Thank you thank you thank you.

You took a team that was 9-6 with a beastly Demarcus Cousins, and went 7-21. A .600 record to .250. I can't thank you enough. The secrets to how you did that may never be revealed. You rode the regression to the mean, and said, I can beat that. I thank you. You took extremely low expectations, and beat them.

We all thank you.

No one can ever take away the way you incompetently let the front office dictate coaching decsions to disastrous effect. No one. Could anyone else have been such a pushover? So spineless? For that, we thank you.

Derrick Williams, especially, thanks you.

Thank you for proving to the front office that coaches matter.

Michael Malone thanks you for ensuring he'll get another head coaching job.

You'll forever live in our memories, right next to the worst moments in Sacramento King's history. Those devastating moments (game 6, Cwebbs injury), they needed company. You made sure from day 1, there would be no silver lining. Congrats.

Klay Thompson thanks you too. For the NBA record. For never bothering to stop him, never calling a timeout, keeping the pace fast enough to ensure, no, guarantee, one thing would always be remembered from the Ty Corbin era.

13-13.

We all thank you.

So here is what I've learned in the last few days.....that calling someone a fanboy is an insult, although I consider myself a DeMarcus Cousins fanboy, and that in these Thank You threads, you shouldn't be honest about how a player or any personnel performed. Fair enough, but I have to agree with what Brick already posted and this post by Chubbs....actually quite spot on by Chubbs. It's the truth.

You seem like a good guy Corbin, but you might have been best served by leaving before you took over because these last months have been bad. Good luck in future endeavors.

When so many people say that you are such a class act Tyrone, they mean that you were paced by everyone in the organization (front office, players) and never talked pace about any of them. You just took it lying down (albeit staring at your paycheck) with no fight or principle.

You are a class act Tyrone, thanks.

This thread is now officially about insults to Corbin, backhanded compliments to Corbin, and arguing about the purpose of a Thank You thread, none of which is actually the purpose of a Thank You thread. I'm putting it out of its misery.
