LOL! figured some of you would think I was being sarcastic. but....

For real thanks Petrie! You when down guns blazzin to the last breath of the trade deadline!

I thought it was genius that he tried to turn around and trade Nocioni to the Celtics! WOW thats what im talking about! Sure it didn't go down but you gotta admit it was genius! From what I read it wasn't easy for the Celts to turn down.

Im not too sure what was going on with Nate Robinson or if that deal even made sense, but I was sure pumped when i thought it went down...

so what this trade deadline comes down to is... knowing what we know about Salmons and Miller. How would you feel if we just traded for them, instead of trading them away? if we're honest with ourselves we know Petrie came through.

Miller as we all know.. has ZERO inside game. In fact Im sure hes been rejected more times than hes made layups/dunks in the paint this year. He embarrasses himself every time he tries to defend down low or anywhere on the floor for that matter. If you and I were 7ft tall we'd all pull down about the same amount of rebounds as Miller. Hes terribly overrated and overpaid. He yells and cries all the freaking time when he gets burned or blocked! PLUS THE WORST PART IS TAKING AWAY MINS FROM HAWES!!!!! Yes he can pass and yes he can shoot but at the 5 position teams need alot more than that.

Salmons could be a big time bust for the bulls. We all know hes so sensitive about getting the right amount of mins, touches, he has to start, can't do anything off the bench, blah, blah, blah. Hes a ball hog and a cry baby. It wouldn't surprise me if hes a bust. Everyone around the league was talking about him being a bad teammate, add that with the trade kicker pay increase. Salmons even by himself was not that attractive to other teams.

I think Nocioni could be a perfect compliment to Martin, vs fighting Martin for the ball like Salmons did. Nocioni has a good attitude plays both ways and can play off the bench. He definitely was a good player at one point (I couldn't stand him in a good way), maybe he just needed a new system and a fresh start. Im reserving judgement till the end of the year. Who knows maybe he plays really well and we can package him with K-9???

We got a real shot at the #1 PICK!!! a player that might be the franchise!
We got 2 first round Picks plus an early 2nd round pick.
We got Ike and McCants two former lotto picks that.. who knows? maybe also needed a fresh start and some more mins???
We got rid of the players that were stealing our young players mins.
We got rid of the players that were and have been driving us all crazy!!!
We gave Moore the boot!!! im positive that hes been a complete jerk/crybaby ever since he lost his starting job and then his mins altogether. HEY HE'S HAPPY TO LEAVE! he said.

We got a new core to this team! and im excited!

Unlike so many doom and gloom people here, I agree with you. They needed to blow up the clown. Nobody wanted to watch this team, period. Look at all the empty seats during games. Arco is not even 50% full during kings games (despite their announced attendance). That team sucked, and worse of all they didn't care. and the Fans didn't care after a while. I stopped going to games...now I might just start going again.

Yeah, hopefully Artest and Yao can lead Houston into the playoffs as the 8th seed so we wont lose our other 1st round pick. It would be cool if we had the 16th and 1st pick. Let's just hope they barely make the playoffs.

Geoffe also managed to pull off a miracle economically by getting under the salary cap this summer when it looked like we might have to pay the luxury tax. He saved the team loads of money that they can now use in the next couple season to lure talent here. They went from paying nearly 69 million for a last place team to 45 million next season and actually having money under the salary cap for the first time that I can remember (since 1998?).

When you think about it, what Geoff did was truly amazing. Petrie is not known for what is referred to as "mid-season trades." It has not been that long since he just never went in that direction. But this time.........WOW! Talk about blowing things up.

I believe the Kings future just got much more interesting. Can't wait to see it played out.

Though I don't pretend to have the basketball knowledge of so many here, I have to say I agree with you! Did we really WANT a deal that would pull our season out of the gutter, when we may well have the #1 pick?? Really??

And while we avoided improving by leaps and bounds for the rest of this season (a good thing IMHO, in light of the #1 pick), we now have more money for next year...does anyone really want to go through another year like this, just to wait for the much-hyped 2010?

Finally, we know that the pieces we had were not working but now we have new pieces to play with. We are not any worse than before in terms of the overall skill level, but we can attack the game from a different perspective and teach our rookies all new things...using "instabenchers" who aren't coming in with delusions of being starters!

I'm good with this...

While there are alot of points in the OP I disagree with, I do think we are in better shape than before.

We did get expirings, couple young guys. My only real gripe about this whole thing was the Miller/Salmons deal. I really didn't like that deal. I will give it a chance, and hopefully Gooden won't be getting any minutes. Another hope would be that, since it's clear Nocioni is going to play, he raises his value and we can ship him off for a pick at the end of the season.

Let's hope we see plenty of minutes for Hawes, Thompson, Greene, Diogu, McCants. Time to see what we have.
