Terrible Kings trades proposed by the internet super thread

Help me understand how/why we would trade Lavine at this point. He’s a negative value asset in the final year of his contract. A trade will require us to take on matching salary and other bad contract(s). There’s no chance of being good next year so there’s no reason to attach value (picks) to move him.

Even the Zach for Ja straight-up ideas don’t make sense to me. That requires us to take on multiple years of a negative value asset in exchange for one year.

We need to take our medicine. Cut him if he will take a salary cut. Or keep him and let him come off the bench. Maybe we get lucky and someone offers us a second rounder and their injured expiring player at the deadline.

You dont just cut a 50m expiring contract, thats bad business practice. You take that contract and see if a team wants a short team boost on offense(e.g. Pistons) or teams that want to dump their stars (Ja/Zion) or use it involve in a mega star trade (Giannis).

For the team that wants a short term boost, what would we expect back? Given that salaries need to match, it would be more bad contracts. How does that help?

Teams don’t “dump” stars unless there’s serious injury and/or character concerns and the contract is bad. Why would we take that on given where we are right now?

how many teams would need to be involved for Lavine to be involved in a Giannis trade? Seems incredibly unlikely to me.

You exhaust all these options, but if nothing materializes, I think LaVine and his camp would more than welcome a buy-out so he can go link up with a good team. That's something that would "help" our standing, not hurt it.

And while Vivek probably would never sign on for it, it'd be by far the best decision this org can make. Invest in Carter/Nique/#7 pick (that is likely a guard) getting a majority of the back-court minutes with serious rotation roles.

Lol. I like how they just acquire Hartenstein and the 17th pick. Like how do they do that?? And nobody giving up a 7th pick for Morant. The Zach attack isn't someone the Kings should give up value for to unload since he is expiring, and we aren't competing this next year. Joe Mullinax needs to set the pipe down.

I like how that unit is also a "new era". A new era of what?

Looking at the Thunder salary cap, the Mara rumors make 1000% sense.

He's the rookie scale Ihart (or so they hope). Which makes a ton of sense on a team like that where you don't need any sort of focal point on offense. Grab the rim protector/rebounder/high efficiency in low touches on offense big to keep your ship running.

Ja for Zach straight up is probably a bad deal for us given our current cap situation. I realize SI basically just lets anyone write for it while they transition into a fully AI slop rag. How long until the swimsuit issue is fully rendered with Midjourney?

Mara’s defense would also help make up for losing Cason Wallace (which the Kings should demand if they trade down). And Mara keeps getting underrated as a basketball player - he’s got an excellent feel for the game. Mara, Chet, JDub, SGA and Curuso is a squad.

No idea if any of this would really work, but not sure why we would want the Hornets garbage in this deal. If the Nets really want Domas, I'd rather we just take Claxton and one or two of their disappointing young guys they drafted last year. That said, might as well keep Domas for this type of return unless it really does create a terrible financial position.

Anytime you can trade a 2x all-nba talent for nothing, you simply have to do it!

All indications are Lavine probably wouldn't decline his option for 3/73 or that part would be a done deal.

Some team is getting ****ed by this trade and at least it's not the kings
Without checking the fine cap details on this (like the LaVine S&T part), we give up a SRP, Hunter, Carter, and the LaVine contract for Naz, Randle, and Champagnie? Sure, it would create a logjam in the front court, but since it seems we're trying to trade Domas anyway that kind of clears itself up. We'd have Randle/Naz/Maxime/Dylan in the frontcourt, the better shooting Champagnie to help out the wing rotation, we know we're drafting a hopeful-franchise PG, and we're going to get something from Domas when we trade him. I...don't hate it for us, given that we're going down the Trade-Domas road anyway.

We'd look something like:
#7 / Nique / Hayes
DDR / Monk
Keegan / Champagnie
Randle / Cardwell
Maxime / Naz

And that's before whatever we get for Domas - which can't be "nothing". DDR would be gone in a year and we'd have to look into wing options, but for us, that's an interesting reboot. Not sure it's a "realistic" trade, though.
