I heard Prince has a ruptured disc in his back. If true he'll be down for a long period of time I would assume. If he has surgery that is.

It can be, and it can lead to lingering problems that never quite get resolved. Look at Scot Pollard - and to some extent Peja. They were never really the same after they started to have back issues.
