Super Bowl XLIII as it happens

Whoa!! Right off the bat we have a successful challenge by the Cardinals. No touchdown by Pittsburg. They get a field goal instead.

Cardinals did not score on their first possession, unlike the Steelers who scored 3.

While I am not a big Steelers fan, I dislike the Cardinals. Hey, I grew up in Illinois and was a Bears fan and disliked the St Louis Cardinals. Much like I love the Chicago Cubs, but hate the St Louis Cardinals. They may have moved to AZ, but still dislike them on principal. :p

This time, on 3rd and goal from the 1 yd line, the Steelers get into the end-zone. Steelers up 10-0. I like it.

This kickoff and next series may tell a lot for any Cards hope. Steelers are just so physical and that D - awesome. Big Ben managing the game perfectly up 'til now with huge yardage advantage. This game might quickly become a Super Bore - but we shall see.

Yeah! I do want to see the Cardinals score once in awhile to keep it from getting too boring. As long as they stay behind in the score, I'm good. :D

1st and goal from the 2 yd line for the Cardinals. Looks like it will not get boring. Touchdown AZ!

That offense by the Cardinals seems to have fired up the Cardinal defense and special team squad.

Cardinals have the ball back in good field position.

But some penalties, rush pressure and dropped pass - ball back to Steelers to see if they can add to lead before half.

I don't claim to be psychic or anything but right before that last play I called pick-6. I don't know why, I just had a feeling. Sucks as I'm rooting for the Cards.

James Harrison was not NFL defensive player of the year for no reason. Warner should have realized there's no need to risk trying to squeeze it in there against NFL #1 D. But it was more about Harrison than Warner.

Of course you're right, but that kind of precision is what made Warner so dominant for 3 seasons and why his fade until this season was so dramatic. Hard to get away from it.

2nd half starting with Steelers up 17-7. They changed that from a Cardinal incomplete pass to a fumble, but will review, I'll bet.

Reversed on review. It is called an incomplete pass. I thought so too, even though I'm rooting for the Steelers.

Whew! Cardinals should have called a fair catch. Fortunately, he hung on to the ball. Who was that?

I do that sometimes too.

That's what happens when you have no faith in the team you're rooting for

So, the Cardinals score a touchdown with 7 1/2 min or so in the 4th qtr and make it a game once again. Steelers lead 20-14.

It was more about the way the play lined up and the proximity to the goal line, not so much that I don't have faith in them. Aside from a few boneheaded penalties and that one play I'd say they have been the better team after the Steelers second possession. I thought the mistake was in using the last time out when they did. They needed it so they could have called one running play or taken a sack in that situation. Of course the other option was a lob to Fitzgerald like they just did. Here's to hoping they pull off the comeback.

One of my pro-Steelers friends (rather disingenuously, imho) called on the refs to stop throwing flags when the margin was ridiculously in favor of the Steelers. LOL. At least if they win now there won't be any reffing questions like there were a few years back :)

It has turned into a good game. Yes! And, I have no problem with the refs. It seems to be fairly called to me.
