Stojakovic @ B92: Webber didn't leave because of me.

You know what is funny? On Thursday morning's Rise Guys, the reporter Chad??? from ESPN actually said he spoke with Peja's camp and they were ecstatic. That getting rid of Webber was the plan all along and it is what Peja and his camp have been pushing for since the beginning of the season. When asked if HE acutally heard that from someone in the camp, he came back with a resounding yes. This was Peja's plan supposedly from the beginning and according to this reporter who spoke with his people, Peja was a last resort trade. The whole time it has been Webber, if they couldn't get rid of him than maybe Peja.

Did anyone else here that?

wat?? how come nobody else mentioned this yet?

You need a PF, and KT is an unknown commodity for me. As for whoever fills in the PF spot is getting into pretty big shoes, eventhough we don't really expect him to do what Webber used to do. How well Songiala does will have definite impact on our season.

i don't know if you picked up on it or not (i really couldn't tell from this^ quote) but when i said "please believe that" i was agreeing with you on Neptune

I posted it yesterday right after I heard it in another thread and found it odd that nobody replied to it then. This was yesterday morning around 7:15 or so PST on the Rise Guys and forgive me but I cannot remember the reporters name. I think Chad something, but I am not fibbing. That is what this guy said. He had actually spoken with Peja's "camp" and they were "ecstatic" and then went on to tell about how that was plan all along, that they were pushing for that all along etc.....

I thought it would merit some reponse as well. Do the Rise Guys have transcripts of the show available. It will be on there.

I am new to this board and I would never dream of not posting something I did not hear with my own words. I am not lying. This was said on the radio.

Sorry for the misinterpretation:o.
But I am really optimistic about Songiala. Not to say that I don't miss Webber.

when i said "i don't believe that" that did not at all mean i thought you were lying Daniela...i just think what they reported was a bunch of crap :D

Iheartbrad-I didn't think you pointing your finger at me, I just wanted to make sure that everyone on this board knows this because ACISKING asked why it was not posted before and I didn't want people to think I am making this stuff up.

oh i never meant it in a bad way, just wondering why nobody else caught it and whether u cud have just heard it wrong...sorry to put u on the spot like that

I promise I did not hear wrong. He may not have said "camp" he may have said people or agent, BUT the fact remains that when asked if he truly was told that from one of Peja's people he said yes. The exact word he used be it camp, agent, people etc I cannot remember verbatum but that is what he said. I was shocked when I heard it as well. I am not going crazy here. Someone else had to have heard it.

Also, do the Rise Guys have transcripts? Does anyone know because now I am second guessing myself, and I don't like it.

Pedja seams to be very powerful and influential man

Maybe he can join "sophranos" after his career;)

I don't doubt Ford's claim... Peja's camp is different than Peja. The "camp" or "posse" or "handlers" always say the more outlandish thing that then gets exaggerated by the media member. The player himself says all the right things to not stir the pot. Happened with Webber, too.

Yep, I heard this too & mentioned it briefly in another thread. I don't usually believe Chad Ford, but he SPECIFICALLY said that he had SPOKEN with someone in Peja's camp & confirmed this.

This bummed me out when I heard it, and I'm still not okay with it.

That's exactly right. As everyone knows by now, Pedja does not have "camp". He has groupies who must have been excited that "big bad" Webber is gone, but I doubt that Pedja himself cares about the "camp" any more then, you, I or Webber would.

Wasn't it B92 that also posted the exclusive interview with Pedja when he was so upset about what Webber had said? And didn't B92 state unequivocally that Pedja's trade demands were in good part because of the shabby treatment he had received from Webber?

I'm not putting any blame on Pedja but I'm not sold on this interview, either.

As far as Webber not returning his call, who cares? It's over, folks. Once and for all.

Good, bad or indifferent - the angst, the drama, the petulance, the defiance, the statments, the interpretations/misinterpretations, etc. on the part of both players AND particularly on the part of people who were reading things into comments or non-comments of both players are all history.

Our team is now going to go forward with Bibby, Cat, Peja, ?????? and Brad. Only time will tell if that's the right thing.

Yes I heard that interview. You hear Whitey say that "You have to remember this is Chad Ford who said that Bibby and Adelman got into a heated argument on the Kings plane while Bibby stayed here because of his ankle sprain" after th interview was over?

What CF had to say when in one ear and out the other.

I still don't believe Chad regardless if he spoken with Peja's camp or whatever it is.

You can listen to Joe Maloofs radio interview with ESPN here
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=sac#
under the link Webber sight

He says the rift wasn't the reason they traded Chris, but then goes on to confirm that there WAS a rift. Says he thinks there is a good chance NOW that Peja will stay.
Also says, at the end, that they aren't giving up, that they still have a solid core of guys, with Bibby, Mobley, Webber and, oops, I mean Peja, not Webber. (his snafu, not mine)

wow, the rift has finally been confirmed. And with it, despite what Maloof says, the confirmation that Peja had something to do with this trade! Do you think it JUST occurred to them that Peja may stay if Webber's gone??? I'm not "blaming" Peja, and I'm not saying that Peja asked for Webb to be traded. I'm just saying that they wanted to build this team around Peja, and they felt like they needed to get rid of Webb to do that. I don't know that they would have made the same choice if Webb was healthy. Well, it is what is is, onward folks.

The person who is really going to flower more than anyone in Webber's absence is Songaila. The kid will step up, and next year, he will be playing on a higher level than Webber. Call me crazy, but I have a good feeling about this.

That's if Kings re-sign him. I really hope Darius will be with the Kings for a long time. I like him as a player and person. Don't know if he will play at a higher level that Webber. But Darius will do well. I'm also looking forward to Darius too cause I really believe in him doing good stuff and I also see him as part of the Miller-Bibby-Pedja core. Maybe not as part of the Starting position, but as a solid bench player we can always count on. :)

Darius will most likely be a very good, productive member of the NBA but to say he's going to be better than Webber is simply gross exaggeration, especially at this point. Look at the careers of both players from high school on. Webber, with all his flaws, is truly one of the elite. Darius may get to be very good and very productive but he is never going to be the all-around triple-double threat on a nightly basis that Webber was, is and hopefully will continue to be in his new role with the 76ers.

well said, and keep in mind that we are comparing Darius to a post injury Webber. Webb's play is incredible, and I love the guy, but if he was really 100% healthy his level of play would be even higher. Course if he was 100% healthy he'd still be a King.... sigh...:(

Actualy on the Sixer's Squad Webb is more likely to get triple doubels and bloat the stat sheet (excpet maybe points) With a weak Center in Jackson Webbers boards ought to go up, givne his passing skills and Iverson's ablity to move with out the balland Kvars spot up shooting, assists ought to come easy for Webber.... Oh well.

Darius surpassing Webber? doubt it. Darius IS a solid PF, although a little undersized. He works hard and is developing well but I don't see him as a 20-10-5 guy. The good news for the Kings is that as I have noted previously he is nearly invisable untill his numbers get gaudy, so I susupect interest in him as a FA may not be huge keeping his contract low enough for the Kings to resign him with no difficulty.

Yes, and it is getting very silly, don't you think?

Let's analyze VERY word he says and try to find a way to interpret it as something bad.
