Still peeved

Now that the All Star Game is upon us, I still can't believe that Rashard Lewis is an All Star instead of Chris Webber. That guy does nothing other than put up 20 points per game. OK, just had to get that out in the open as a CWebb homer.

Okay, you need to take a couple of deep breaths and look at the larger picture. For the Kings, the rest they're getting is infinitely more important than showing up for David Stern's Dog and Pony Show.

Not going to the All-Star circus could be the best thing to happen to the players this season.

Really.

:D

Yeppers.

They really needed the rest and the chance to practice at least once or twice MORE than they needed to party all weekend in Denver.

:D

OK, OK, but can I at least point out that scrub-Lewis just threw up an airball on his first shot? Seriously, what is that guy doing there?

Webb needed the time to rest. Seeing that Miller got hurt last year, it doesnt bug me CWebb didnt go. I try not to worry about all that, I just want to enjoy the game.

Sure. I'm not gonna respond any more, however, because I'm not watching the game. I'm not going to have it recorded that my satellite receiver even approached TNT tonight. I'm watching movies on TBS... The Wedding Singer is on right now, and after that I'll be enjoying Little Nicky and then Ghostbusters!

Much better, IMHO, than this year's all-stars.

:D

Hey thanks for that VF! I love The Wedding Singer, Little Nicky and Ghostbusters! The ASG was getting dull. Actually Rat Race is on right now, for me anyway. That movie is funny though. :)

I already started getting bored with the ASG so now I'm attempting to stomach Strange Love on VH1. Maybe I'll turn to "Beyond the Glory: Duke Blue Devils" later.

I missed that Rashard Lewis airball. I wouldn't say that he is a "scrub" but I will say that Webb definately deserves to be there more than him. BTW, that Destiny's Child intro thingy was pretty cool.

I feel that Rashard Lewis justly deserved his all-star berth. He's been playing his heart out and has carried the team when Ray Allen has had to step out. There are a few factors that you have to look at before you get angry that Webb or Bibb didn't make the all-star team.

1. Seattle has had a better record and a few more quality wins
2. The Kings' record does not do justice. They've garnered wins, but have played sloppy and unpolished all season long.
3. Phoenix has been the talk of the NBA with their dynamic play and high scoring games.

You also must realize that the Kings aren't as beloved amoung the nation as they are in Sacramento. We are small market. We have to realize it and move on. We do not receive respect until we win a championship. Right now, Phoenix and Seattle are the NBA's media darlings just as we and Dallas were a couple of years ago. Seattle is playing better ball than we are, hence the decision to have Rashard over Chris.

But Seattle's record isn't the best in the West that they deserve two all stars...I'll give Phoenix three because Marion is averaging over 10 boards per game, Nash is leading the league in assists and Stoudemire is an athletic freak of nature averaging 26 ppg. Seattle deserves Ray Allen, who has been playing (un)believably well in his contract year. I won't even complain about Ginobli over Bibby because the Spurs have the best record in the West.

But Lewis is another Glenn Robinson. He scores his 20 and does very little else. He doesn't rebound the ball particularly well despite his size at the SF. He doesn't pass the ball particularly well (at least from an assist perspective), and there's nothing else in his game that just screams "I'm an All Star!". Contrast that with CWebb's high assist numbers (he'd have a stronger case if he were averaging 10+ boards per game) from the PF spot, and this seems like a no brainer.

And Sacramento's record isn't bad enough to not have one all star...sure, CWebb needs the rest, but I'm too much of a homer to just ignore this snub.

lewis deserves to be in the all star game, you clearly dont watch him play. you are just angry they chose him over cwebb, but i think thats the best thing that could happen to the kings. all star games arent good for us, remember what happened to brad last time?

Yes, I recall what happened to Brad, and I don't watch many Seattle games. But just b/c Brad got injured does not mean, imho, that we should hope no Kings make the All Star game in the future.

Yes, I'm making my comments based on cumulative stats for this season.

I wouldn't say I'm "angry" about Lewis being chosen over CWebb, but did he really "deserve" to be chosen over CWebb if you line their stats up against other guys that play similar positions? How many guys that play PF can trot out CWebb's stats across the board? Very few. Dirk scores a more and rebounds the same. KG and Duncan score and rebound a bit more. KG has the assist numbers. But that's it.

As for Lewis, Carmelo has virtually identical numbers, and people call him one dimensional. Marion's rebounding numbers almost double Lewis'. Corey Maggette's numbers are identical in scoring and rebounding, but he gets almost two more assists per game. Joe Johnson and Quentin Richardson are only behind Lewis by about 4 points per game, but have his rebounding and assist numbers (and let's not forget that they play on the same team as Amare and Marion). Peja's numbers compare pretty favorably with Lewis' numbers (rebounds are off by 1 per game).

I guess my point is that I don't see what Lewis does to greatly differentiate himself from the other SFs in the Western Conference. He's not the worst all star selection of all time --- far from it. But an all star in this western conference as a forward? I think it's a bit of a stretch.

And, yes, I'm railing on lewis because he was selected over CWebb.

Lewis won it because the Sonics are doing better than the Kings. Stats are way overrated. Lewis is co-leading a team that is near top of the NBA. Webb and Peja got it a couple of years ago despite Peja's obvious lack of team-defense and rebounding but the Kings had the best record in the NBA.

That's what it comes down to.

I agree. Have none of our players go to the all-star game doesn't bother me one bit.

This was a transition game all night long. It would have been a total waste of time for Webber. bibby on the other hand should have been ther since he also really wanted it.

It's a little troubling that Webb's play for the first half of the season was overlooked, especially since he is coming a major knee surgery. Having said that, I'm glad nobody from our team made it. They can use the time and rest to regroup and come out playing with some passion with a me against the world attitude.

Btw, love the avatar Reina.

i'm also pretty miffed about cwebb not being selected, but man, our whole team can use the extra time off. we are playing awfully, and there are several injuries. on top of that, the team hasn't had a lot of time to practice together.

i would hate to have webb go to the game, play 5 minutes, and re-injure his knee.

Did they practice today? Anyone knows?
